As topic says. This is the most sh*tty, bugged, unplayable DLC for WoW EVER! Last time in my life I came back to your game. Subscribed today and all day cursing non-stop because of constant disconnects, bugs and finally my subscription suddenly expired.
Now I can not even see in my account that I bought Shadowlands, but I can see that my subscription expired.
My applauds. Amazing!
P.S. Oh yeah and Shadowlands and monthly subscription were just refunded somehow. What is going on there?!
Sounds like your card might’ve been rejected, or your bank refused the charges.
But how I was able to play half day?!
Probably a grace period between purchasing the subscription and having the payment actually clear (or, in your case, fail to clear).
File a ticket here.
And a relevant help article, to boot.
I got answer from Blizzard and now Ill make this situation 100% clear for everyone.
Important background information - I’m 39 years old network engineer from country A, who having a lot of business trips around my country and around the world. My game account registered in country A, city A.
So what happened yesterday. I bought Shadowlands DLC and monthly subscription from country A, city B (due to my work) and started to play game. Yes, I bought it! Transactions were successful because you CAN NOT download Shadowlands and play it without Blizzard ALREADY got your money.
Few hours later in the middle of dungeon I got disconnect and game launcher showed me that my subscription expired. I logged into my account via browser to see same information and no any information about any transactions or any buys was there as well. Everything looks like I’ve never bought Shadowlands or subscription. I made a support ticket and asked my question here on forums. That’s what I got as an answer:
Issue ID: #79128671
A Game Master set the status of your ticket to “Need More Info”, and left the following response:
Greetings, customer,
This is Game Master Nestold and I understand you’re contacting us because your upgrade and your subscription were refunded, and you’re not sure what happened. Thanks for reaching out to us about this.
I checked into things, and it looks to me like the purchases were declined, as the Blizzard account is registered to a different region than the location these purchases game from. If you live in a different country than the Blizzard account, we need to update the country on the account to match your region.
If you need to update the country and region on your account, we can help with that, but before we can do so, we will need to verify account ownership and proof of residence in the new country. To do that, we will need the following:
-
A government-issued photo ID matching the name on the account, showing proof of residence in the country you want to change the account to. (Please follow the guidelines here: https://battle.net/support/article/26516.)
-
If the ID doesn’t have an address on it (like a passport), please also provide a utility bill (water, electric, gas) as well that has your new address on it.
Once we get the country updated, we can then let you try the payment again.
So that’s my opinion about all this and how I see this situation. I’ll try be as polite as possible, but I already know that I’ll fail, because I’m extremely outraged.
- Who the F are you, Blizzard, to track me down all around the world? I bought a game and subscription from you, I did it legally and it’s not your F business in what country and what region I’m now.
- You stole from me what I bought from you. You did it suddenly, silently, without any warnings or following information, and threw me my money in my face, because you were unable to track me down because I was playing from another city. It’s a huge spit in face I will not accept.
- Now you asking me for a government-issued photo ID matching the name on the account, showing proof of residence in the country you want to change the account to and if the ID doesn’t have an address on it (like a passport), please also provide a utility bill (water, electric, gas) as well that has your new address on it. REALLY?! What else? Blood test, urine test, DNA sample? Are you working for CIA and gathering information from people about where are they staying now exactly with addresses, ID, rental contracts and water and electric bills?
- According to your policy I must register my account, buy, pay and play ONLY from country A, city A. And if I’m on business trip or moved to another country I MUST update my account providing you my new address, ID, rental contracts and water and electric bills.
Once again and read it carefully - it’s not you F business where I am now. Or you are really CIA cyber tracking and security department? - You want try my payments again? I can give you try my dong only. If I were American citizen I would sue your company butt for good, because it’s Grenada case. 100% victory.
- I already foresee your childish mumbling about security. My account security is MY problem. And your problem is help me if it was compromised.
Bottom line - yesterday one of my favorite game companies ceased to exist for me forever.
I’m not sure if Blizzard is at fault so much as your bank’s failsafe measure to avoid purchases from a stolen credit card, thinking it might be suspicious activity. Maybe check with your bank about the purchase first…
Once again and please read it carefully - nobody CAN download DLC Shadowlands and PLAY it without your money already been transferred to Blizzard. And read my previous post again too. Blizzard refunded DLC and subscription because my current IP address don’t match with my account registered city.
You just don’t understand what’s going on. For Blizzard MORE important to track me down by IP address than get money from me.
and if you’re refusing to provide that information, how do they know that you’re the original account owner?
…because i don’t see what the fuss is.
they didn’t steal from you, they refunded you.
there is no SL DLC, everyone playing retail uses the same client.
purchase of the expansion simply unlocks access to additional content.
it sounds like you’re annoyed that you got caught trying to cheese the system by pretending you live somewhere you don’t, in order to access cheaper prices.

Once again - who the F is Blizzard to ask for my ID photo, address, electric and water bills? I bought everything legally, I paid with my bank card from my country. And it’s not yours, Blizzard or whoever problem where F I am now (my country, my city or another country and another city).
Amused by your idiotic statements about “owner account” and “cheese system”. Nice try, Sherlock Holmes. I’m glad that you can play only from your country and your city. Perhaps you are disabled person?
And you suggesting me now to do as Blizzard want? Every time I moving to another city or another country for vacation or about job I must provide them my ID photo, new address, water and electric bills to BE ABLE TO PLAY F*G game?!
Man, you are not normal. Sorry, no offense, but dialogue closed with you.
if it’s your account, providing ID shouldn’t be a problem.
if you’re trying to make payments from an area which is outside the registered account location, then it’s going to look like you’re trying to get cheaper prices via deception.
there has never been an issue with travel.
people travel and play all the time.
…but their bank accounts are generally still located where their primary residence is.
the only thing you’re going to accomplish talking like that, is a forum holiday.
…but i suppose that doesn’t matter if you’ve quit anyway.
I’m not sure why you posted in bug reports either… if you enjoy drama, you probably should have aimed for General Discussion.
Provide my ID photo with current address to play a game? You are really sick. Sad that you don’t even realizing it.
You can provide everything Blizzard ask you - ID, photos, address, bank cards numbers with CVC, blood and urine tests with DNA sample. Seems it’s normal for you to be able play a game. But it’s absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable for me.
i’m not sure how basic security checks make anyone “sick”.
you’re not being asked for bodily fluids, so i don’t know why you keep bringing that up.
ok.
Basic security is password and e-mail. Advanced security is my Authenticator application.
And asking for my ID photo with my current location, including address, water and electric bills is called PRIVATE DATA FISHING and gathering, absolutely illegal as well as absolutely not Blizzard’s business. Unless they doing it for CIA or other government department.
Funny that SWTOR and TESO don’t have such an “basic security”. I’m paying, I’m playing from any country on this planet without any necessity to show them my ID photo, address and bills and approve my current location by my IP address. And that’s called ILLEGAL TRACKING.
And finally they STOLE what I bought. I’ll explain you why. When somebody buying something from someone its called bilateral deal. It mean two sides agreed that one side exchanging his/her money for some stuff/program/property or intellectual property from another side. And you can not reverse or cancel this deal in a unilateral order without agreement of informing another side. Otherwise it’s called STEALING! Not a “refund” how you called it before. Or you can give me your bank account so I can refund your car and house right now without informing you of what I am doing, how and why?
Imagine you bought a phone, used it for one day and in the morning it disappeared from your house because it was “refunded” by phone shop because they didn’t like your face, country or nationality.
they don’t want to do anything with your data, other than use it for verification… and then destroy it.
When submitting other documentation, only show the information relevant to your issue, such as first/last name, address, date of birth, etc. Please make sure the issuing body/company is also visible. The other information MUST be physically covered.
For example, if you are submitting a utility bill as proof of address, please ensure that the first/last name, address, date, and issuing company are visible and other information has been covered.
stop.
the money was refunded.
nothing was stolen.
the account is blizzards.
not yours.
either give them the info, or don’t.
it’s up to you.
