Month of the Muslim Ramadan

I remember being annoyed over that, I always liked how the first boss of that dungeon sounded, then the rest are just all mutes

Making them generic titan voice was such a mistake

I found it!

Part of me thinks the voices were deemed ā€˜too racist’ and thus removed, lol.

Al’akir himself, was mute as well.

But the Council of Wind dudes beneath him? They all spoke.

A lot of the things in WoW even rooted in religion, a lot has become cultural celebration. For example, we can agree that christmass is not just celebrated by Christians but people who have close cultural ties to it.

And I don’t trust Wow Dev to be clever or have the finesse to do it tastefully IMHO; having said that, I don’t mind the inclusion of non-religious holidays such as national days, days certain cultures celebrate, etc. but that’s just me.

im just gonna chill here with my food and watch this:

it can be both things. The bird people architecture resembles chola’s and other indian kingdom architecture and design and also the name of the bosses mimics south asian names.

Al’akir not getting a voice was also stupid cuz like every other elemental lord spoke

It dumb

Muslims cannot have facial hair above the lips for any reason, ever. And also do not wear turbans. And the rest of his garb along with his kirpan. That is what a Sikh looks like and not a Muslim.

Christmas was created as a means of trying to get folk that celebrated Yule and other holidays around that time to convert so to speak.

Now it’s mainly for shopping and blowing money. Jesus was born I believe sometime in March I think?

Easter also has ties to different religions for similar reasons.

Are you basing this off of the name or npc background? I would say Ahn 'Qiraj had better themed and named bosses. But that is just my opinion.

It’s hilarious how often Al’akir is thrown to the curb.

Like, in Cata he’s killed off, and in Legion we meet Prince Thunderaan, again, so he can be made the new leader.

He’s the most short-lived elemental lord, ever.

I’m not even sure he did anything of note, either.

Dude was just in his house and we come in and kill him lol.

You know im not gonna take the bait for the ban

You mean the Arakkoa that have been in game since The Burning Crusade aka Skeksis from The Dark Crystal.

no, i specifically referring to the WoD version one’s.

And Skettis is named after Skeksis, kind of a no-brainer lol.

Like his whole thing was he was supposed to be smarter than the other lords, use his advantage of wind to make quick strike attacks on the enemies and be gone before they could even fight back

But nah he teams up with Ragnaros, the guy who tried to eat his son, and then died off in a single raid without actually even doing much

Exactly.

I’ve literally never seen it any other way

Those seem more Egyptian to me with all the scarabs and what not.

The Uldum wind lords actually seem more ā€œArabicā€ than most things…that and the zone the Vulpeera are from.

There certainly seems to be quite a lot of Arabic looking things in the game if you take a step back and take a look at it as a whole.

I’d almost argue the vulpera were ment to be the ā€œArab cultureā€ race like the trolls were the ā€œRastafarian voodoo raceā€

Adding more real world holidays, like Ramadan, even if, like, thinly veiled would be cool, but I’m not gonna hold my breath. At the moment, I’m just hoping Blizz doesn’t cave to that whites-only biz coming out of D.C.
