Monk mains favorite alt class/spec

Mostly interested in what Brew/WWs find the most fun but MW opinions could be good as well.

Personally have a hard time playing anything not Monk. Kind of strange since its never flashy, OP or even META for more than a week or two before blizzard finds the fun and kills it. I would just like an alt that I didn’t get bored of in 20 minutes.

DH is just WW with training wheels, so it’s not a hard swap. Sub rogue plays like old Legion ToS WW. Prot War plays like old BrM back when it had ISB.

Prot warrior is my favorite alt for tanking, vengeance is a close second.

As for dps, I guess I would say feral and sub, but I don’t ever play dps much to begin with.

My favorite alts as a mw are my brew master and wind walker monks. Aoibrewinn, Aoiwalkinn.

I imagine you mean not my other monk toons though.

For tank it’s prot warrior. Lots of fun, spell reflect is awesome, and when an execute centric build is viable it’s so fun to play. Infinite mitigations for every type of damage both passive and active. Just a lot of fun in my opinion.

For dps, if I can’t pick wind walker, it’s probably one of the dps dk specs. I used to main udk back when they were not meta. I don’t enjoy festermight gameplay or the removal of pandemic/epidemic centric builds in favor of sores/wounds. I think it’s less thematically befitting than a necromancer focused on spreading rot and disease to be a…person that gives you a blister and stabs it…or whatever you would call that. Gripping, kicking, amz, ams, deaths advance, etc. Lots to enjoy about dk.

Survival hunter has also been appealing to me at times. Not enough to really get to into but it’s sometimes fun to just hop on and play.

Other healer? It changes frequently based on vibe but I tend to play hpal or rdruid a lot. I think of the 2 I’ve probably played rdruid the most over the years. I find cat weaving to be challenging and fun while trying to also heal and manage hots. Doing damage in cat form, typically, doesn’t heal unlike crusader hpal or fistweaver monk though, so it’s just trying to get damage in without the ability to heal while doing damage.

Ranged dps I would probably pick fire mage but haven’t played it in so long idek how it plays now.

So heres the thing.. I have 8 level 80 monks.

Yeah trying to find something other than monk to play. I have all classes 70+ but I only ever level them and don’t actually play them. Its odd that I always feel like WW and Brew have way more buttons than they really need but when I play any spec that has less buttons I just get bored.

If you want to stay melee then I think warrior and dk. If you want an energy spec then feral druid is preferable to rogue imo. If you want a healer that’s similar’ish then it’s rdruid.

Been tempted to try out mage just because it would be nice to play an actual META class for a change.

As someone with one (or more) of everything leveled to some capacity (70-80), I enjoy both destruction warlock and fury warrior more than the others, but in terms of actual tanks, I really only enjoy brewmaster’s tank kit. Then again, I might not be the norm, since I tend to gravitate toward simplicity over complexity.

Wow, and here I thought i was bad with 3 level 80 monks + an absurdly overpowered timerunner from the MoP event that I just don’t have the heart to convert into a basic biscuit. I’ll likely be adding a level 10 (or 11? I’ll need to do research) monk twink to the list, too.

Arms warrior, enhancement shaman and Survival hunter. Basically with windwalker they’re the funniest specs of the game

Hunter and DH. Probably just DH in midnight since its getting a ranged option.

I keep trying DH but always get bored quickly. Maybe if I played it longer I would enjoy it. I have the same issue with my DK. Sounds cool and I try playing but an hour or two in its just /whatever

If you want something with buttons, try any spec of shaman. I also find enhance pretty fun (totemic more than storm).
