Okay, listing the prices is nice and $9 a year sounds like a steal…

But why pay for those exactly?

Already told you what my problem was and it’s not localized to you, which is why it said “people.” I’m done doing everyone’s research for them.

I’m also not getting sucked back into some debate with you. Have a good day.

I do it to support WoWhead and because I feel like it.

I hate ads so anything I use regularly that has an ad free option I will use it such as Hulu ad free or CBS All Access ad free. I dumped Cable and Satellites TV years ago for streaming mainly because or the availability of ad free services.

Overwolf seems fine to me so far, dont let past blunders permanently deter you.

It was deleted when I was up this morning. But no action, I think the mods had a laugh

Theirs seriously nothing wrong with backing up claims or things with links and such.

If i tell you “google them up” yourself after i made a claim or something, that’s not me proving anything. I’m not going to sit there and expect them to google it up, especially if it’s not enough to work with.

What did i ever do to you? Disagreed on your favorite ice cream flavor? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Well, good for you. :+1:

Ciao.

Well that’s understandable for TV shows and such. For me personally when it comes to movies, i just buy the movie outright. Forget going to the movie theater and seeing a bunch of ads i can’t skip along with some other people in the seats making noise. I’l just pop it on my CD drive, launch VLC media player, skip ahead and bam.

But for something like WoWhead which the information is readily free to see and use… In a world where adblocker doesn’t exist or if your prefered browser can’t support that due to reasons, then yes i can see this being a great option, especially since it’s very dirt cheap being $9 a year. (that’s like $.75 per month.) I just don’t see it as a good option to me otherwise. However you are free to spend your money on that by all means if you want to support them or don’t want ads. Your experience is not my experience and vice versa.

The problem with Wowhead is that it still has the best information available, which makes it hard to avoid. I still wish there was an alternative to Wowhead that had equally good information. If I ever go to Wowhead then I make sure that I have an ad blocker.

I no longer use Wowhead on mobile because it doesn’t work properly with Firefox Focus for iOS or Safari mobile with a content blocker. No ad blocker = no Wowhead.

I won’t use the Overwolf app because the only ad blocker I’ve found for windows in general (outside a web browser) is paid for by ad companies (Ghostery). No ad blocker = no Overwolf app. Thank goodness Ajour and WoWup exist.

WoWup is pretty good,I’ve been using that.

Whats going to be interesting if they cut off the api to 3rd party sites like wowup wowmatrix…ect
Because with the transcript from overwolf when they talk to wowup…wowup ask them if he doest join along with them would they stop letting him use the api the Exact words from overwolf " pretty much"

I use uBlock Origin and AdBlock Plus both and WoWHead still loads faster using Premium I also don’t mind supporting them as much as I use the site. I really HATE Twitch right now because they are getting mush more aggressive trying to defeat as blockers there are workarounds but I really only watch the 2 streamers I’m subbed to now.

I personally used 2 versions of Adblock and Ghostery to prevent something in the background downloading via app script or something without my consent. Not really fun when your going though the webpages, looking at stuff and all the sudden, something popped open and instantly downloads.

Speaking of download, i’l give WoWup a try here and see how that bad boy does.

Update: It works pretty nicely, even has a little tab to get more addons.

Im already using wowup instead dies the job no fuss. Done.

That’s what concerns me about Overwolf and their statements about the API.

The impression I got from the Ajour statement is that one idea might be adding a link to donate to the addon dev from the addon manager; that way maybe it’d satisfy Overwolf’s desire for the addon developers to make money from their addons. I think that would be a reasonable compromise. I wish I could find the link to the Ajour statement but I’m not finding it right now.

thank you!

Yeah, they use over lays for their third party apps that you have to install if you want to use. They are popular among games like Hearth Stone but at this time, there are none for WoW. The truth of the matter thou, you have to want them running and thus need the over lay for them to work. In our case, you just shut it down the second you finish updating and if you configure it correctly, it shuts down both Curse Forge and Overwolf at the same time.

I install manually. Now some crazy guy going to tell me I’m gaslighting and supporting overwolf because I install manually.

Though wowup sounds good.

No kidding. What is with that lately? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Not the Overwolf’s situation, but people being so quick to accuse you of being 100% supporting something they dislike along a label or to, even if your neutral towards it. Like to them, nothing is ever neutral to them and it has to be one extreme side or another, the “your either with me or against me” attitude.

"Oh you think something is okay, or you don’t mind it or just giving an opinion that i absolutely hate? then your " fill in the blanks here and some unwarrented nastiness here and there.

Why are people acting as if adding/updating Addons manually is like trying to mod Skyrim.
