My toon is 34, yet all the mobs are 33, so I don’t get much experience. This happens every time I level up, but it’s usually solved by either zoning out or restarting game entirely. However, this toon has been 34 for a bit and the mobs are still 33. I’m questing in Feralas and I have Chromie Time up
Which Chromie Time did you select?
I’ve tried all of them! I was on Cata to being with, but have attempted WoD, Legion, BfA
Yeah, I believe it should be Cata for Feralas. If you don’t have that or anything selected for Chromie Time I don’t believe the mobs will continue to scale with you. But it sounds like you’re already aware of that.
Yeah, they’ve scaled with me this whole time, through 33. As stated, they tend to not scale right after I level up, but usually I’m able to fix it by zoning out, which is hella annoying on its own
For some reason, it’s stuck on 33
You might try grouping with someone else (probably higher level), then activating party sync to see if that resets whatever bug is going on with your leveling when you’re solo. But otherwise it does sound like a bad bug.
Damn, okay. I’ll give that a whirl!
The mobs should scale in all old zones regardless of timeline selected unless something was changed. I think it just impacts sharding.
I don’t know if this is a bug. Mobs can be slightly lower than you and still be within the expected scaled range for XP. If the mobs were consistently 3+ levels below you, that would be an issue. What color is the number for the mobs on the nameplate? Yellow would be giving proper XP, and green would be a few under your current level.
That’s not what I’m seeing. The level is yellow, yes. But when I was same level, I was getting twice the amount of XP I’m receiving now. Mobs are supposed to scale with you, and even when they’re only a level below, they don’t give the correct amount of XP. This happens whether I’m rested or not. I will level up and get less XP than I was getting at the lower level.
Sorry, to be clear I meant they won’t scale past a certain point if you aren’t in the correct Chromie time for that expansion. Like Feralas says it is for levels 15-30. So it would make sense that Pyrrhadv wouldn’t be getting very much XP for them at levels 34-35+ if they were not in Cata Chromie time.
I’m taken to believe this is by design. The mobs don’t immediately level up when you do - it takes until you’re about half-way through the next level for them to catch up. My understanding is this is so you don’t suddenly feel less powerful, given non-Heirloom gear effectively becomes weaker with every level due to how the secondary stat ratings scale.
It should have a negligible impact on the experience per kill, though. Penalties shouldn’t be imposed until you’re separated by more than two levels separated from your target, which you won’t reach. If you’re seeing up to a 2x difference that would suggest there are other factors at play (which may or may not include a bug).
When I’ve been in a Chromie timeline in the past, mobs scaled wherever I went. for example, if I’m in Legion timeline, mobs will scale to 60 in every other eligible Chromie time zone, even if I go to cata zones above 30. If I go to Elwynn Forest, they’d be my level. I think the only major difference is the breadcrumb quests you receive when you pick an expansion and which dungeons are in the LFD queue. I haven’t done this in a bit or directly compared XP gain, though.
Mobs don’t scale up in level with you immediately. It usually takes until you’re 50% of the way to the next level before they’ll scale up to your level.
That said, being one level above enemies isn’t going to be a significant damper on the experience you gain per kill. It’s when you’re three or more levels that the XP you get starts dropping off a cliff. (Exception: …unless you’re outside of Chromie Time and are at or above the zone/expansion’s maximum level, i.e. level 31 in a Classic zone, level 36 in a BC/WotLK zone, etc., in which case, you get 90% reduced experience even if enemies are still able to award experience.)
For the new player, World of Warcraft can pull you in different directions and this can become very frustrating when you’re new. The best way to over come this so that you don’t feel lost by the time your reach level 30, is to seek an Audience with Chromie in your capital city. However, one is not given this option or wouldn’t even know about it unless they view the bulletin board locate in the major cities main in the Inns. This board allows you to select a time line or quest chain, But I woul…
It’s not about Chromie, when experience bars is less than 26% mobs will always be one level lower, until after 26% and complete a mission or log back in or change maps。what’s worse is that the 61 character only gets a few dozen XP from 60mob, but when you are 61-69 and synced with your teammates in the Chromie time, you become 61 and the mobs are 60, so you may not be able to experience the game together, and syncing becomes pointless
