Mob tap abuse - broken

Players tap mobs they never intend on killing, instead they rely on others to kill said mobs, especially on bonus quests where many mob kills are required.
I suggest a proximity limit:
If a player is 50 or more yards from a mob they tapped, the tap should be removed.

Its been like this since vanilla. In fact, it’s gotten a little better. It aint changing anytime soon.

I don’t understand your mentality. You don’t want other people to get credit for something you’re going to kill anyway? Why? If you don’t want people to get credit for mobs you’re killing, go play a single player game?

I do this all of the time and I can break agro so it’s great. Why bother killing mobs when I can just mass pull for someone else to cleave down while I down quests and grind faster? Don’t hate the player hate the game.

Not actually hating anything. That’s why I made a suggestion at the end.

Ditto.

It nice to watch the 10 mobs they ran by all take off after them.

I seriously hope that’s sarcasm, but knowing this place, I’m sure it’s not.

if they’re not going to contribute to the kill, you bet I don’t want them to get credit for it.

My point, exactly

Guys like you will ensure that Blizzard goes back to single tagging.

It’s not broken, mob tapping is as old as the hills around Azeroth as they are wide. I have actually assisted other players even on elite mobs in WQs and the satisfaction to watch the mob die and most of us gain some exp with the kill and loot even.

In Voldun awhile ago, trying to find the NPC to turn in a quest turned into a race for cover when I aggro’d a few too many birds chasing me, and thank goodness a shaman was close be and came to my aid and helped cleared them out.

So really, mob tapping is really helpful when you can help others even on the opposite faction if they are having trouble. It’s no big deal to me if I do help someone if it looks like it’s going badly for them, and the same is returned to me when I get in trouble and I’m down to 1% health even, dead pet included…

Mob tagging in vanilla was only a thing while grouped up. Now you can tag as long as you’re walking by.

Eeeeeeeeexactly!

This is correct

Not talking about rares or wq’s. I’m talking about bonus quests - the ones with zero to 100% bars where you have to kill bunches of mobs

This is what the op is talking about. If you are killing a mob and i run past and heroic throw, i get credit for the kill with out being in your party. It does not bother me either way though so meh.

You actually won’t get credit at all if an opposing faction tapped it first. the mob is greyed out

Done this on my rogue too and its very satisfying watching the results, particularly if the freeloader isn’t paying attention and doesn’t see their laziness suddenly get very interested in them. Really sucks on some classes though without an escape when some good-for-nothing toe-rag keeps piling mobs onto you.
