Regarding Lone Wolf - most MM hunters who wanted pets just didn’t take the Lone Wolf Talent that was offered high on the tree. That is what I meant. They didn’t force LW by taking away the pet and then making us take a Talent lower down to get it. First way did not cost a Talent point for something that has been integral to the class since Vanilla.
Regarding Barrage - which part are you saying is not true? MM is supposed to be the long range sniper and ranged attack spec with pet assist. BM relies on the pets and most of the focus is pet abilities. Survival is the only spec that the no pet makes sense for. Barrage is the best AOE for hunters. It, Volley, and Multi Shot are about the only AOE hunters get and they just took the highest target capability away. MM specialize in their weapons and attacks; BM specializes in pet abilities and commands; Survival specializes in traps and CC.

Barrage is not the best AoE. It was incredibly bad and it had been for years. MM hunter AoE comes from Explosive Shot, Multi Shot+Volley enabling Trick Shots which allows your Aimed Shot/Rapid Fire to ricochet and hit additional targets.
You say that MM is supposed to be a long range sniper, I agree. Aren’t snipers meant to take precise shots at their targets, not just spray bullets at random?
Bms best aoe is call of the wild perk which triggers beast cleave for kill command. No bm hunter takes barrage and rarely even uses multishot except when cotw is on cd
I disagree.
thinking of IRL similarities, how many sniper teams have animals in thier units fighting for them? by the time the animal runs the hundreds of yards to get to the target it has already been sniped dead. Snipers donʻt need a melee damage assist at long range, they need a spotter
SV seems more to me like a K9 unit, needing to get the animal in close as it can only do melee so a melee focused hunter works well along with it.
Just my 2 gil from a part time hunter player
I’m pretty sure 100% of hunters had tamed pets, guess that means they all want pets for every spec in every way by your logic.
Spawning with a pet at level 1 (or 10) is not a choice the hunter player actively made.
Speccing into lone wolf was.

You technically don’t spawn with one if you choose Exile’s Reach - and you had to tame them.
It is actually, they can abandon them.
You’re free to provide data that showed 90% of the entire games playerbase specced into it. Not just things like those that M+ or raid.
I like marksman being essentially the “archery” class. The reason hunter was the last class I leveled was because I don’t like pet classes tbh.
These reworks just keep getting worse. My hunter is doing half the damage he should be. The enjoyment factor is null.
