MM Hunter Alpha

What’s your thoughts on the current changes for midnight?

Loved the mechanic of using Aimed shot to detonate Explosive Shot by explosive shot proccing Lock and Lock. This was what got me into MM. Now it’s going to be slowed down and less dynamic.

Just make multishot ALWAYS trigger trick shots, so we can prep it before adds spawn
Would that really be so OP? especially with aimed shot cast time looking to be longer more often…

MM is really fun to play right now so of course they have to dramatically screw with it instead of baking in some of the cool tier set bonuses.

I really don’t get it. Feels like they are doing different just to be different. I haven’t played with the trees yet but for dark ranger I hate the idea of damage being split off to some stupid summon. I left the pet side of hunter alone for a reason.

How many of those tier sets are actually “cool”, let alone healthy, gameplay-wise, though — as compared to, when zooming out and looking at things per their broader design implications, just being re-tuning bloat?

The most recent I can think of was maybe… DF S3. And before that? It’s been a long time.

Not really a fan but will have to try it to know for sure

I’m not sure I’m looking at current info., but I’m seeing static Haste nodes (Trigger Finger & On Target carrying over) - both changed (lowered) from previous values and no stacking buff by consuming Spotter’s Mark in the case of On Target.

No streamline is going to make Aimed shot suck. They say they going to up the damage to compensate. No amount of compensation is commensurate to being dead. Which is what a lot of MM are going to be when standing still in today’s dance or die environments.

That’s my main issue. The MM is a mobile class. But they now want to make us into stationary turrets. Without all the defenses.

Sure, but…

  • On Target is faaaar weaker than before (2% flat vs. 4% to potentially some 20% during Trueshot),
  • Trigger Finger is likewise just 2% (previously 10%), and
  • For accelerating Aimed Shot, 2% Haste (and even the ~20% potential of old On Target) obviously pales in comparison to a 30% reduction off Dragonflight/Shadowlands/Battle for Azeroth Streamline, let alone the 60% total of a double-stacked Improved Streamline today.

We still have at most 25% uptime on Aimed Shot outside of True Shot before AiS CDR, most of which was pruned anyways.

That’s weird, I removed Trigger Finger and my AS cast time went up by around .4 seconds.

0.4 seconds from 2%? The cast time would have to be 20 seconds to have that impact.

2% of 3 seconds (current TWW AiS) would be 0.06 seconds.

2% of 2.5s (pre-slowed AiS) would be 0.05 seconds.

  • Currently, if you had absolutely no Haste, affecting Aimed Shot’s cast time by 10% would be 0.3 seconds.
    • Any more than that cannot be explained by Trigger Finger even now regardless of the limits of its interactions.

10% increased attack speed. (5% doubled.) Sorry, current version of the talent w/ 2-points invested in it. I’m watching it on my castbar - 2.2 seconds to 2.6 seconds. No, you’re right… 2.3 to 2.6…

Right, well… neuter 80% of that effect and up to 90% of On Target and you’ve arrived at the absolute bog that is Midnight MM as previewed.

current MM is just too much, there is 6 billion modifiers, and they just throw out 10-13 mil crits like no other spec does it needed to be reworked again coz there was no chance of them balancing wat is there now

Ret Pally says - hold my beer

ret is losing a heap of stuff, way less procs and random damage that they have now it will significantly less obnoxious in midnight and also doesn’t crit for 13 mil through a 30% wall XD MM is absolutely insane atm

If this is a PvP complaint then there should be a PvP resolution. Not gut the whole class because “it’s PvP”. Which is an even smaller demographic that M+ and Raiders.

Too much in what way? Idk what you mean about 6 billion modifiers. There are really like 5 buttons to press with a few proc/cooldowns. It’s pretty simple yet engaging. It also suffers from severe low damage when it is not on a lucky streak. I am fine if they smooth that out but I don’t like that they are doing things like moving more damage off to some minion for dark ranger.

I’d say that no amount of compensation is commensurate for making the class entirely unfun to play. My opinion, but any cast time longer then the global cooldown feels like a painfully slow slog. If Aimed Shot were strong enough to one shot expansion end bosses, I would still hate it if it took 3 seconds to cast.
