MM feels super bloated

Decided to dust off my hunter given blizz is planning on destroying affliction at the current rate things are going. Which means I would have a better and easier time getting and pushing keys on my hunter, as sad as that is to say.

Yet trying to play MM is something I definitely do not enjoy, and may simply just stick with BM, as MM always has felt clunky to me. Especially now given all its CD’s do not line up at all, and it just feels terrible to try and key bind everything given the new ability bloat they created. With MM being the worst offender given everything comes off of CD at different times, and just makes it more complex than it needs to be.

keybinds are a bit annoying, especially in pvp when you have those abilities stacked on top, but i feel like a lot of classes are running into this problem, I know my monk has always been awful with keybinds.

I want a macro that does kill shot if it’s up and arcane shot otherwise to save a button, but IDK how to do this. I make macros often but I don’t know if this is possible because macros don’t allow advanced conditionals such as parsing target/mouseover hp.

At least we don’t have to use Hunter’s Mark anymore  So there’s a small win

Pretty sure you would need a WA for that one, yet I’m not even sure if it would work, I’m about to just notr bother and keep working on my veng DH. As I’m already frustrated with the spec and its only been me messing with my bars and dealing with the stupid nostalgia bloat they made.

Maybe just play BM.

nuts to that. Leave MM alone. Its playing really well right now.

I dont think you can make them conditional, unless Im misunderstanding something.

You’re right. Though he could probably shift/alt mod it and manually press the button when KS would be usable.

of course it feels bloated, you’ve been smashing 3 buttons at random for the past two expansions

I mean right now I play affliction, and that’s super bloated, to me it just feel really awkward is the issue.

Warlock has always been bloated, especially Affliction that needs like 4 active talents to function

I think BM is far more enjoyable to play, but MM doesn’t feel bloated to me. The only problem I have with it is using Embers in m+ as that would consume too much time on each pull (explosive shot, that lvl 50 aoe talent, then tar trap+flair). Otherwise it’s smooth and easy for both ST and AoE.

So this is what bothers me, and I hope i don’t come off as mean, but when the ability list is like this:

rapid fire 20 sec CD
Explosive shot 30 sec cd
volley 45 sec CD
double tap 1 min CD
trueshot aura 2 min CD
wild spirits 2 min CD

It just seriously drives me up the wall because NONE of the CD’s line up well, they all have awkward CD’s attached, and it just feels terrible to me. At least with affliction you just refresh your dots and so forth, and it makes sense. To me, MM is like that one kid in class with epilepsy having a seizure on the floor because it wants to have a billion CD’s. That do not interact well and cause for annoying internal timings to play it right. Its super clunky in cleave, its better in ST as its more streamline, yet I just simply do not like the spec and am about to wait for BM to become strong once 9.1 or so hits so I can play that instead of this B.S.

EDIT: Like the only thing it has going is the fact that it bursts well and does stupid damage easily, yet it simply is not a well put together spec. Relies heavily on awkward CD’s which just to me kill’s the spec entirely.

For raiding, you don’t pick Explosive Shot or Volley, so that simplifies things. For m+ you don’t really need to line up your CDs because things die real fast. Just save up trueshot and wild spirits for boss. Open with explosive shot, then volley followed by aimed shot > rapid fire > aimed shot. Then normal multi-shot > aimed shot spam, while trying to keep your 7% haste up. Maximizing your damage through perfect rotation can be a hassle, but you do a ton of damage even when you mess up your rotation.

Try lemon water in the morning. Really helps curb the bloat.

No I understand that, yet it still feels like I’m spazzing all over my keyboard using this that and the other thing. I just simply do not think its a well put together or thought out spec at all. Which like I said the only reason why it’s even played is because it does good damage, even when you mess up the rotation like you said. Which feels bad to me as I would rather have a good rotation that flows well, rather than just push button and crit for 2k+ automatically cause blizzard buffed it through the roof.

Good new is, BM scales really well with stats, and it will be competitive again later in the expansion. Then we won’t have to worry about playing MM. I’d much rather just go BM and jump all over the place while barbed shotting and kill commanding.

Yup, might just level my hunter to 60 slowly, and park him till 9.1 when BM should begin to take off again.

Blizzard doesn’t allow this kind of if:then capabilities because once you can do something like this you are moving towards being able to macro your entire rotation.

I don’t really feel like MM is bloated or struggling with CD management though. If I’m pure single target it’s fine, but if it’s AoE then it gets a little more hectic.

MM is actually kind of nice in that it allows some talent swapping to hone in on what it wants to do. Lots of classes I have played have set it and forget it talent specs.

Well that’s just not true. Both talents are situational useful depending on the fight. Darkvein, Huntsman, Generals, Denathrius…and let’s not forget the literal AoE trash fight Sun King. I’ve seen arguments for them on Sludgefest to abuse the abilities on pillars, but I’ve never bothered to do it. I wouldn’t trade LnL for it at the least.

Also steady focus is pretty blargh in M+.

Streamline is a lot easier to use and is especially helpful on fortified where you are constantly AoEing. You can do what you said with leading on explosive shot and then work into a rapid fire and aimed shot. When you’re using TS you can just rotate between the two.

Thanks for the info. I’ll try Streamline later today. I barely manage a 50% uptime on steady focus anyway.
