Is there a time when you pop your CDs in PvP and enemies actively avoid you? The best I get is a disarm on DT. Outside of that, if I do a go with Trueshot, folks just stand in the open and facetank/freecast on me.
If I see wings, I run. If I see combust, I LoS as best I can or blanket. If I see Convoke from stealth I might already be dead. There are plenty of other examples of “You need to avoid this at all costs” situations. MM lacks this as well as consistent damage. It comes out more like a sin wave than an EKG in afib like many other specs. It would be nice to have some of our power budget moved back to burst.
Agreed, hunters have no scary CDs and our burst combo takes 4 globals and is completely telegraphed. Most classes have defensive costs they can rotate to always have something up to stop our resonating arrow combo. I personally love that monks and boomies have a ranged disarm practically on the same cd as our arrow. 15 second difference i believe.
DT + RA + Rapidfire is pretty deadly, but instead of running from it like a moron you just need to bumrush the hunter an cc it. very easy to do with the 90% of instant stuns/ccs in the game, you can also just pop a minor defensive or sit in bearform, its only really scarey for ww’s who cant get to you behind a wall or say a rogue/mage/lock. very rarely can you even kill plate classes with this combo.
It CAN be deadly if you catch someone completely off guard and they have no idea how that works. I have closed out matches with it when the ding dong stands behind a pillar in RA and just eats everything and doesn’t try to top me. On the other hand, if an enemy has at least two brain cells to rub together, they’re prrrrrrooooooobably safe.
I’m still going to advocate for AiS being instant during Trueshot. It could be free, too. It would be gated by charge and CD.
thats going way to far and you know it lol, being able to pump out instant 8-9ks every 1 second ontop of the 6-7k arcane shot follow up is insanely overpowered lol.
No, it’s not going “to” far (wherever that is :P). First off, you’re gated by GCD. If someone wants to stand out in the open or not blow defensive CDs for armor-mitigated damage, that’s on them. Second, who casts Arcane Shot during Trueshot? Third, what you’re describing is still significantly less damage than the other big bursters, and operating under the assumption that everything crits - HIGHLY unlikely.
Maybe a better option would be Trueshot makes all offensive abilities instant (so really just AiS and Steady) and keep the mana cost. Steady wouldn’t feel like a punishment for the couple of GCDs that you need to use it during that window. OR make it flat haste and keep the Steady cast time. OR remove the DT damage nerf on the second shot and keep the cast time. OR… Or… or…
its better atleast in pvp to spend your precise shots over hard casting aimedshots during trueshot mainly because they are big instant damage that do more than most aimedshots anyways. in trueshot you should be looking to cast aimedshots only to get empowered arcanes.
This is a good point though, all other good dps in pvp have times when you about them. Rogue coming out of stealth, blade storm, wings, ascendance, mind games. Only a few classes don’t.
Id really appreciate a buff to survival. It has to be in melee range with most of the above.
I’ve been dabbling in SV on and off and find it strangely counterintuitive: Melee that wants to be at range against other melee, but you have to slow with something that can only be applied in melee. Makes me scratch my head a bit.
It’s really because we have no cool downs like rogues evasion. We can’t effectively go toe to toe. Our sustain from our master is also laughable in this burst meta.
The last reason is our main melee spender raptor strike does laughable damage. In 1600 full armor mine does 1900. Templars verdict can do 3 times that. Why would I want to let them mess me up like that?
My damage is lower, I have no burst in melee, and no defensives.
We do have excellence control, but rogues have that and stealth with a much lower player skill investment.
Could make Aspect of the Eagle give you range and do nature damage rather than physical. For a damage buff, that is.
I’d argue (as I have elsewhere) that making MC baseline, giving Cunning pets a disarm, and swapping the crap Tenacity CD for Intervene would go a long way to upping hunter survivability/utility. Make Primal Rage baseline (PvE reasons) and then give Ferocity pets a different family spell. Maybe a damage CD - increased crit chance for X seconds, or % increase on next ability would probably be good (like old-school furious howl.)
Edit: Oh yeah, and get rid of Lone Wolf - if you don’t want to use a pet play something else. Pet survivability and pathing/AI buffs and fixes please!
Sad part is that many of our attacks do nature damage already and aspect of the eagle only effects raptor strike. While I’d welcome any buff, dealing pure nature damage on Raptor strike only wouldn’t really make us that scary. It would be nice though as on warriors and paladins my raptor strike hits for a measily 1400 damage.
Even better though this change would be nice for PvE survival players. It would be a small damage bonus making the button appealing outside it’s primary use of giving you range when you’re outside melee.
If Brutal Projectiles wasn’t bugged and Double Tap was off the GCD, those are the only two things needed to make Hunter burst very scary… and one of the two changes is a BUGFIX… instead we get a minor buff to “Careful Aim”, a D-E-A-D talent that would never be picked vs any team comp.
Fix Brutal Projectiles.
Take Double Tap off of GCD.
You might see a Hunter comp or two in AWC with these changes instead of Hpal/Fmage/X all day.
