Mistweaving Vs Fistweaving

There is probably a design issue at play, though less ‘lack of answers’ and more ‘lack of options’. Resto Druid has a lot of passives that improve basic spells, so they can tailor to content a lot easier then Mistweaver can.
I love fistweaving as a playstyle but it is a fact that we use at least 4 talent points without a direct healing gain in themselves.

Fair enough and still explains what I have been seeing. My hope in posting here is just that maybe eventually the devs will see the complaints and people shelving the spec and do something about it. This has been an ongoing problem for several expansions with this spec and its frustrating.

Agreed. Why bring a MW when druids and paladins have brez, evokers and shamans have hero, priest has pi…
Even though Shaman heals aren’t the best right now. They at least bring utility with there totems, can’t say the same for monks…

Can’t remember the last time when mistweaver was considered a top spec. We have been at the bottom for multiple expansions at this point and I honestly don’t think it’s gonna change.

There just isn’t enough monk players, let alone mistweavers for blizz to justify giving us attention.

I would not say hpriest is in 3rd, I would think it would be hpaladin. The top holy paladins have done +23 +24 keys, priests haven’t gone that high yet.

I’ve started playing Unison/Evokers/Tear and finding it very strong. S tier throughput up there with Rdruids so far.

I was 382 on my MW pumping 100k HPS on the trash before water boss TJS. Sustaining 60k without the buff on Stonestep was easy like I was waiting for damage to come out to pump more but just didnt have to.

Sustained 80k on a 14 Stonestep with the buff but that was just stupid. I had Soothing Crits for 72k. Enveloping ticks for 60k. 96% Haste when I wanted it so yea it felt like I had WAYYYYY more HPS than I needed.

The idea is that I use Soothing with Unison for spot healing and very mana efficient healing when dealing with non-lethal damage patterns and then lean on Enveloping when I need actual throughput. Then lean on TFT with Secret Infusion and Enveloping with Tear when I need it and Yu’lon for the huge burst damage patterns like Hyrja storm. I’m only really using Vivify for the procs when moving but that might change when I get 4pce.

I just healed a 16 Tyran HoV at 384. Did 50k overall on Hyrja and was bursting well over 100k HPS for the storms (probably closer to 150-200k). I don’t think anyone dropped below 70%. I can’t wait to get gear and push into proper keys. I think 20+ is easily doable as that build and I think it’s significantly stronger healing than anything a Fistweaver can do. Like probably double the throughput at least.

I made the build earlier in the week and haven’t looked back. It’s completely changed my opinion of Mistweaver. I think Fistweaver is one the weakest healers in M+ and I think a casting MW with the right build is one of the stongest. Probably the most HPS in the game right now in keys but that’s a guess because I haven’t got to high keys yet.

100% agree, people are sleeping on the caster build. It has crazy amounts of hps.

Im going based on representation 20+, not highest cleared. Highest cleared is a matter of group for the 23-25 range, not pugs (with only Druids and evokers doing 25+ lol)

Having renewing mist pre-spread then popping Yu’lon → enveloping spam is crazy high hps. It’s a mana hog even with 33% reduced cost (50% soon) but with the haste from invokes and Enveloping Breath it heals like crazy.

I’ve gone back and forth on if I should reduce Yu’lon to a 1 min CD like I do with Chi-Ji when fistweaving or keep it 3 min for the improved breath healing and longer uptime/invoker haste uptime.

I feel like without spending at least some time fistweaving though in a raid to get mana back you’ll run oom.

I personally think the 1 min cd Yu’lon is far better. There are so many oh sh** situations where yu’lon is a life-saver but that is just me.

Yeah, it’s great having it more often, it just sucks you get 8 seconds of the 33% haste from Invoke.

I’ve gone back and forth. Maybe 1 min for keys and 3 min for raids. You also get some cooldown reduction from the other choice node so it’s probably closer to 2:40 instead of 3 min.

I’ve always taken 1m because it allows for Yu’lon on every Hyrja storm, every Tempest storm, every pack if needed. I don’t raid though so I have no about about the choice outside of keys.

Yea it’s a mana hog but leveraging mana for HPS has historically been Mistweavers niche, I just didn’t know it was still around until I started playing this build.

I like it too because there are times when I want to play very safe and respond to all damage patterns with blanket Envelopings for a trash pack or something that I’m learning or unsure about and I can spend my whole mana bar doing it.

But I can also play more efficiently with Soothing when I have a better handle on damage patterns or know the group/pull better and those mana efficiency choices are a fun part of MW skill expression imo. The 50% buff to Yu’lon mana cost reduction is going to be real nice too.

This is what I do. 1 min Yu’Lon for m+ and 3 min Yu’Lon for raids.

If you have a reliable druid for innervates you can safely go down to the 1 min one in raids, or if the fight has significant downtime and you can BoK for mana regen through SotC. Rotate innervates and mana teas for each Yu’Lon if you can in a raid. If you take the 3 min Yu’Lon make sure you use mana tea between Yu’Lons

In M+ Yu’Lon at 1 min will always be up every 2nd pack, or sometimes twice per pack if it’s a large pull. Can be used 2+ times per boss too. Be wary of mana costs though and try not to spam EnvMist more than needed.

Reminder that the mist wrap talent also works for env breath from Yu’Lon to give it an extra second.

I still think the 50% reduction in mana cost isn’t enough for Yu’lon, I would like to see it be at least 75% but one can only dream. :relaxed:

Thanks and yeah a lot of good input here.

I also try and use mana tea with Yu’lon.

I’m normally pugging so unfortunately no innervate that can be relied on.

I’ll need to try 1 min mistweaving in keys again as I’ve mostly gone back to fistweaving. It’s hard to pass up awakened faeline / SCK + Chi-Ji for trash pack healing while also contributing damage.

Well, if you still use mana tea with it then it would go to 75% reduction (I think that’s how the math would work).

I dont think hps is an issue with the caster build. It is more that we oom afterwards really fast. Never been a fan of Faeline due to my tanks having add and moving crap around and Bonedust being random (oh man i got all procs! Oh… got no provcs… fuu).

This is mostly my situation till my partner gets his druid up to speed so he can be my innervate slave for raid night. :smiling_imp:

For now I just take the 3 min Yu’Lon in raids.
Yu’Lon->env mist spam 2-4 times to get the breath on people depending on the raid size and then throw in vivifies with EF or RenMist at the end to finish mana tea’s duration. After mana tea falls off I just let the dragon finish doing it’s breath thing and go back to normal maintenance healing or SotC damage to recoup some mana. Sometimes Ill refresh the EnvMist?Breath on the tank if they’re low or took a tank buster before Yu’Lon falls off.

Basically try not to overuse EnvMist but also cast enough to get the breath on as many people as you can.

Also keep in mind the gcd and the cast time of the first env mist, so try to time things just before bad happens

Correct 75% mana reduction when combined/3000 mana. When this goes through one can most likely swap to the 1 min Yu’Lon in raids if you are vigilant with mana. I might do that and line it up with mana tea every 1.5 mins when it goes live. Innervates and not overusing EnvMist will still be helpful though.

Fistweaving is incredibly easy up to 15s, literally just keep ReM up and then hit faeline and then hit tiger palm then blackout kick than tiger palm than blackout kick tiger palm then blackout kick than tiger palm than blackout kick tiger palm then blackout kick than tiger palm than blackout kick tiger palm then blackout kick than tiger palm than blackout kick tiger palm then blackout kick than tiger palm than blackout kick CHI JI WHEN PANICKING and tiger palm then blackout kick than tiger palm than blackout kick tiger palm then blackout kick than tiger palm than blackout kick RECAST FAE LINE IF U HAVE TO MOVE AND tiger palm then blackout kick than tiger palm than blackout kick tiger palm then blackout kick than tiger palm than blackout kick tiger palm then blackout kick than tiger palm than blackout kick tiger palm then blackout kick than tiger palm than blackout kick tiger palm then blackout kick than tiger palm than blackout kick

Its actually really powerful imo, just hard to play.

The original build for Monk was fistweaving. Problem was it only lasted for 2-3 patches of Pandaria and then was 100% removed (the mechanic was not nerfed, it was just pulled out) for several expansions.

People got used to playing a green colored priest. But then the original playstyle came back. Rather than give the cast 4 specs, they’re making us fight it out over the two styles.
