Mistweaver hotfix in the works

We’ve seen the emergence of a Mistweaver build that does a great amount of healing using Rising Mist, and we’re working on a hotfix to address it.

When we buffed Rising Mist with the intention of making melee Mistweaver a viable playstyle, players discovered that stacking extreme amounts of haste and cooldown reduction can reach a breaking point of infinite duration on your heal-over-time effects. Even though it’s exciting to see people discover new builds and interactions, the sheer power level in this case is likely to have a negative effect on the healing game for the remainder of Battle for Azeroth.

This change is intended to prevent the infinite extension, while allowing Rising Mist to still enable an effective melee playstyle.

Here is the change we’re working on for the next scheduled weekly maintenance (April 28 in this region):

  • Rising Mist can now extend a heal-over-time effect by up to 100% of its original duration.

Thank you!

Looking forward to being benched and not playing Upwelling again!

Good, nearly unkillable in PVP.

Glimmer gets to stay for 2 tiers, this gets nerfed immediately, I hope you buff monks overall to compensate.

Could you imagine them nerfing Focused Chaos, Greater Pyro, Cocoon and DH?!

…we did not intend for it to actually become a viable playstyle.

Rising Mist is going to be a dead talent yet again unless you buff the heal from it considerably or make it increase the duration by at least 3 seconds.

Rising Mist isn’t the problem of Mistweavers in PvP.

Sorry guys, First glimmer and now Rising Mist. Everything I touch dies :frowning:

Also, Ion admitted in an interview recently that stars was too feast or famine, no skill, and needed to be changed. When is that change coming?

2 tiers? Hell, they’re keeping it on in Shadowlands, Glimmer is apparently here forever.

Terrible. The entire point of the rising mists play style is to extend renewing mists to the point where you can have six or more up, thus making vivify an actual viable alternative to essence font in terms of mana efficiency. Returning the duration of rising mists to the same as it was before 8.3 is going to neuter the talent, unless you buff the instant healing itself by a bit more than 50%.

PS if it weren’t for CDR corruption this talent spec would’ve been just fine numbers-wise. Yet another spec corruption has ruined.

The fix realistically should have been the same as Holy Paladins, cap RM to a certain number of targets.

@demolicious Having played both, hard agree.

whyyyyy? this puts the talent back to how it was before 8.3… surely there is a better way to fix this.

Capping enveloping mist targets would be a better way to fix this.

Remember when Paladin discovered a unique playstyle and it became overpowered? Blizz found an effective way to continue that gameplay without causing severe consequences to it. With this change this provides minimal nerfs to the most geared players and severe nerfs to those who are just learning and don’t have the crazy gear for it. This change also severely hurts Mythic+ and the future of healing for Shadowlands.

“You cannot extend the HoTs over ~15 seconds” Or something along those lines is much more suitable than completely wrecking the spell interaction. Please redouble your efforts on this one Blues, this has been an excellent playstyle that the community has thoroughly enjoyed and we don’t want to see it ruined come shadowlands.

Please keep this playstyle and just cap the number of enveloping and renewing mists you can have out.

You already did this with glimmer…

Just cap it to 8 targets like Glimmer. This change is terrible and severely impacts the viability of a healer that finally doesn’t need to be a Disc Priest or Holy Paladin to be legitimately good.

Imagine being blind and not nerfing paladin healers too. Omega lol. Paladins have near infinite mana.
