Is 50% a lot. I haven’t played so I don’t have heirlooms

Ah yes surely a 50% EXP gain will make people play MoP again.
Not fixing any bugs in raids or dungeons and having zero PvP class tuning changes + how awful it is to gear alts with how terrible the conquest point gain is for anything outside of RBGs (rbgs are next level dead btw) also keeping titles in 5s so weirdos can get their free glad titles with a cutoff of 1600 (lmao).
Also can’t forget it taking half a year for next raid tier is a pretty wild way of keeping people in the game.
Also outside of raids and dungeons the amount of bugs is actually crazy to the point that these Blizzard servers feel worse than an actual private server.

whats the point in leveling more characters when you don’t fix any bugs and we dont know if there will be anything after mop?

“Until the next content patch arrives”

What a great bait and switch. “Hey the players are upset we haven’t released any Classic news recently. >>HIT THE JJ BUTTON”

Great Communication Blizzard, Really Well Done. You’ve Outdone yourself this time. Wonder how many guilds this will save during the Content Drought.

That’s good news! Thank you!

Can you give us a date on when the next content update will drop?

As someone that recently started with MoP Classic I am more positive about this announcement. Firstly, I am still leveling every class and this will help me get all 10 of them up before the next content release (obviously I am not counting DK which starts most of the way to the current cap).

Secondly it implies there will be a content release - some people have speculated that after Blizzcon both MoP and BC Anniversary would go bye-bye with all the focus on Classic +

I respectfully disagree with pretty much everything here.

First off, calling a temporary Joyous Journeys XP buff (the 50% one kicking in April 21st) “positive” because it helps you power-level your 10th alt is exactly why a lot of us who’ve been here since launch are frustrated with Blizzard’s direction on MoP Classic. Leveling in Classic was always supposed to mean something. The zones, the quest chains, the world feeling alive while you actually played the game instead of skipping through it — that was the whole point. Now we’re back to the same retail-style convenience loop: slap on a buff so everyone can blitz through alts before the next patch drops. Great for people chasing the “I have every class at cap” checklist, terrible for anyone who wanted MoP to feel like an actual expansion launch instead of a catch-up treadmill.

Second, this does not “imply there will be a content release” in any meaningful long-term way. We already have the 2026 roadmap from State of Azeroth — Escalation soon, Siege of Orgrimmar in summer. That was announced months ago. A temporary XP buff right before the next phase is just Blizzard’s standard playbook to spike login numbers and sell the illusion of momentum. It’s not a commitment to MoP living on after SoO; it’s a band-aid so the servers don’t feel dead when the final raid tier hits. Plenty of us are still expecting the classic post-Blizzcon pattern: “Thanks for playing MoP and TBC Anniversary, see you in whatever the new thing is (Classic+, WoD Classic, whatever).” This buff doesn’t disprove that — it basically supports it by rushing people to the finish line.

Blizzard’s stance here is the same one they’ve taken with every Classic iteration lately: make the journey as short and painless as possible so the highest number of players can reach the endgame carrot and keep the servers “healthy” on paper. Some of us actually liked the original pacing and the idea that not every class needed to be maxed in two weeks. This announcement just confirms they’re not listening to that side of the community at all.

If you’re a new player having fun leveling, that’s genuinely great — but don’t mistake a temporary XP multiplier for Blizzard suddenly caring about the long-term health of MoP Classic. It’s the opposite.

There is no one left playing to care.

Can we have the soo release date so I can tell my guild when our hiatus is ending and we can make summer travel plans?

Thanks!

I did emphasize that I was new to MoP to make clear that it being good for me did not mean I disagreed with people that said it was bad for them. I agree with essentially all that Thunderzsan said though I do hope that buffing us up for new content does mean that the servers have more than a few months left.

Were I starting near the beginning I would emphatically agree that the whole point was to slow things down compared to retail and it should take a lot more time to get to high level. I view the buff with somewhat mixed emotions for that very reason - I do not want to have all my characters maxed out with nothing to do in a few months. But I do want to catch some of them up to where most current players on the servers are now. It is common for people on progression servers in other games to ask for - and sometimes get - boosts like this to encourage people to join the server. It sometimes even works.

So for me it is good. For MoP Classic maybe not so good though I am more optimistic. Which may mean I know less.

it’s 50%.

leveling should take 2/3s as long as it would without the buff.

Please let us know what you are going to do after MOP. Either you do not know, do not think we would like the answer, or do care about us enough to let us know. None of these are good options. It is hard to put in effort and enjoy yourself on a character that might be forcibly retired in 6 months.

gearing alts is very easy with Celestial dungeons.

I meant for PvP which I should have been more clear about.

Entirely agreed. I have seen that the game will continue indefinitely locked into no progression past Pandaria. I have seen that the servers will shut down. I have seen that progression will continue into at least one more expansion. All of these things being said by players absolutely convinced that what they say is manifestly and provably accurate and there is no room for dispute or discussion.

Clearly not all of them were right - not even most of them.

Not long ago, I thought for sure we were getting WOD, even as late as a month ago. Now I hold little hope for that and I think we’re getting era’d. If it wasn’t, they would have announced something by now.

The only H(C)ope I have left is the WOD game box on top of the MOP one during their announcement months ago, but their fear of saying anything and not even hinting at it during the timeline reveal is concerning.

If classic plus ends up being all the cut content from WoD I’m raising pitchforks and torches.

Maybe they are waiting for Blizz Con in Sept

Many think they are waiting for Blizzcon but given the timing that works quite poorly for MoP Classic. Which likely does not bother them a lot.

If Classic + has mega servers I will not even install it.
