Because neither of those things are required to play the game.
In WoD and Legion the tables were 100% mandatory to progress the game.

There is a difference between complaining about certain aspects of the game and complaining about ALL aspects of the game.
Calling Mission Tables “garbage” indicates someone is not willing see the fact that it is their opinion and may not be shared.
Do I like the mission tables…not so much…but they are far from the thing I dislike most about BFA
We’re talking about mission tables though, no single person is here playing that complains about every single aspect of the game.
I just use them for extra azerite and gold. With the occasional augmentation runes
More time sinks?
Someone at Blizzard thinks these things are fun and keep them in the game.
They’d mentioned they wanted at one point to expand the mission table system to be more complex. I’d heard it compared to Teamfight Tactics in League of Legends by a few people.
Not sure how I’d feel about it becoming an auto-battler but it’d certainly be more engaging than the current incarnation.
Also haven’t heard any new news about this in SL since it was mentioned.
I think its just a poorly implemented idea that doesn’t add any fun to the game at all. Its a chore more than anything.
its nearly passive rep gain… i dont see the problem except the legion ones had better rewards
I hate them. Like only getting at best 55% on the essence upgrade on the table because it starts at -40, total RNG upgrading yay. Got it first try on this character, but probably had to hunt resources for three tries on another. Give me something engaging like a quest chain, not “go find chests for resources then come back and play this table again and hope the coinflip is in your favor.”
I rarely ever send missions out unless I’m grinding that specific rep, which is to say at this point in the expansion not at all. Even the gold you get hardly seems worth the hassle of going down to the boat. Even residuum missions are garbage at this point because a random 8.0 generic dungeon 445 is going to have worse traits than something you got from Ny’alotha or an assault. I think I bought four pieces of residuum gear on my druid and they were all pretty terrible, they were a good stop-gap right as I capped but were quickly replaced and I’ve never seen anything good from them. They are barely better than blue azerite.
So why should I ever run this table again? I know a guy who likes them (who knows why) but I think most would be satisfied if it was phased out in SL.
I had an issue with them in WoD since there was so little content outside of them and they were a constant reminder of “here’s where resources went.” As a money maker and way of getting items and gear they were great, but players should have been better incentivized to leave their Garrison outside of raid night.
I liked them in Legion as they complemented max level content instead of outright replacing it. I’d have no issues with the Legion version making a comeback.
If they end up like BfA’s, just get rid them entirely.
