I understand that the mission table is not for everyone, but some people do like it. Since it is going away in the next expac, maybe we can have some fun with it before then with the following challenge:
Can you pay for the expansion with just gold from the mission table? talking about earning gold and redeeming it from tokens here to buy the xpac.
It’s just for fun here, no hatred needed if you are not a fan of tokens or the mission table – feel free to enjoy the parts of the game you enjoy.
I’ll try to keep my progress posted monthly or so – I imagine the xpac is December/January so we have some time. Feel free to post your progress.
To simplify the math, I usually consider a mission is worth approximately 300g (since it varies around that range).
Enjoy the challenge!
Update:
2 weeks in and 324 gold quests completed.

How many tables are you running?
Current gold cost of an expansion is about 650k or so. If we say that DF is about a year away (which seems plausible considering we’re not super deep into S3 and we still have S4 to go), the gold required would be about 1.8k per day.
Which seems plausible with one character if you log in several times a day to send missions out. Very easy if you have multiple characters doing it.

This seems like a fun challenge but seems too labor intensive for me to keep accurate track. I’d have to write down the Gold intake for each mission, I think, to keep that separate from the rest of my Gold intake from BoEs and the Auction House.
It would be neat if they had a gold tracker for the mission table. I have often wondered about it.
It feels like my Necrolord Rogue gets swamped with Gold Missions compared to others. I actually had 6 on the screen for him once. I could only do 5 successfully, so that was like 1500 gold for a minute of mission table work. The most my other characters and covenants get is maybe 4 gold missions at once.
Depending on how many Characters you have running tables, it could be quite the boon. I will miss it.
My guess is that the mission table became too good in shadowlands that it made everyone a ton of gold and now it’s actually getting removed because it actually became a feature people enjoyed but they couldn’t have that.
I didn’t get into mission tables until late in the expansion. I’m a bit sorry about that too. I only started to do them for the enchanting bag, but started to realize their value in other areas. I just can’t seem to get my adventurers past low 40 level. I want the mounts but you need level 60 adventurers. I keep plugging away. Edit: good idea for a challenge!
I have 5 toons that range in mission table development. My main has about half at 60 and the 5th toon only has like 5 followers unlocked. The others are inbetween. None of the tables are maxed out.
Mission table this time around was boring, the extra combat text was completely unnecessary and just gets skipped.
I miss having the ability to bring one of my Companion buddies along for questing. And nothing has compared to the Garrisons when you could actually see and interact with them, including watching them leave for a mission.
I have a counter app on my phone, so I’m just tracking how many missions are completed, not the gold intake . I’m assuming 300g per to reduce the labor intensive side of it because I absolutely agree with your assessment if you had to track the literal gold amount from each that varies.
Nah, no way that the mission table lead to nearly as much inflation as Callings have.
Seems very achievable then. Maxxing out your table isn’t super profitable and it’s usually fairly easy to get your table to the ~40ish range which is where the crossroads between time investment and good missions usually is.
Are you counting stuff like Seeds from the NF Mission Table as profit since they can readily be converted into profession mats as well?
I’m only counting the gold missions since the mat prices vary so much.
Pure gold? That’s a challenge that has some meat on it then.
I wish you luck my dude.
Yeah the Augment runes are big as far as Gold contribution. Depending on how they sell.
On Tich sometimes they sold for 200 gold each, but on Proudmoore they go as low as 90 and maybe as high 120. And on Tich they always sell but on Proudmoore I get a ton back from the AH that didn’t sell.
When I am on my Tich Characters, I view the Augment Rune missions as Gold. But not so much on my Proudmoore Alts.
that was cool, having pocopoc is a fresh reminder of how having a companion in the open world is fun.

I have one of my tables with all 60 adventurers. I have two other toons, both with their tables in the 40’s I wonder if I can cap them both to 60 before the expansion.
I learned that those bonus XP items (3K, 7.5K, 10K) are account bound, so you can get them on one toon and send them to another.
Still dunno if I’ll make 60 on them all or not.
