Mind Vision from 30 yards away through stealth?

Is this from the spy addon? some sort of exploit. Saw it happen twice yesterday.

Not enough information.

What level is the Rogue?

What level is the Priest?

Perception active?

+Stealth detection equipment/elixirs?

Did the Priest detect the Rogue then cast it, and it gave some weird spell batching error?

Need more.

If you were in a party … maybe the holy aura thing? It has the same icon as mind vision.

Spy addon strikes again, yet Blizzard continues to turn a blind eye to this game breaking problem.

What exactly do you think they can do? People cry that Blizzard is being the bad guy all day long over and over, but their options are incredibly limited. Either they let it go, or they break the combat log or addon API in ways that destroy hundreds of unrelated addons.

Nice attempt at blame, but nope. Spy addon doesn’t work that way.

Previously, you stated that it was the spy addon and had replies that the spy addon doesn’t do this.

You can’t use Mind Vision on someone you can’t target.

You can target people while Stealthed/Prowling if:

  1. You are very close to to them and detect them
  2. You’ve increased your Stealth Detection using a variety of methods or are simply higher level
  3. You had them targeted before they entered Stealth/Prowl and cast a spell around the time they did

It isn’t an exploit. It isn’t because Spy did some voodoo magic. It is because the Priest used Mind Vision on you before you hit Prowl or because you were readily seen due to any of the aforementioned reasons.

You probably should figure out how Mind Vision works while you’re at it on these boards complaining.

Another person who doesn’t understand how game mechanics work spewing their stupid opinions asking for changes and bans. Big surprise, Go back to twitter.

Are you implying Blizzard can’t control what addons are allowed in game?

It was not the add on idiot. The addon does not show someone out of stealth. All ot shows is someone went into stealth in the radius of said player.

I’m not implying I am emphatically stating it. They can’t just ‘ban’ an addon, they have to change addon API or the way the game works to break it.

Let me fast forward this conversation and assume you think Blizzard can come out and just say “don’t use this addon” and ask the big sites not to host it. What happens next is it gets passed around on other sites like reddit or guild forums, or it gets changed slightly and renamed and reposted to places like curse.

The only thing Blizzard can do is change the API or the combat log and that would have severe consequences to hundreds of unrelated addons so please spare us anymore of this “Blizzard is turning a blind eye” nonsense.

Well that’s great, now people like OP just have to suffer from things like being mind controlled while stealthed because of this bs

Nope, absolutely no way it has to do with any addon.

As others in the thread pointed out, an addon can’t let you see a stealthed target 30 yards away. The rogue in the OP’s story got mind vision put on him while was visible and then he hit stealth. I used to do it to rogues in WSG all the time back in vanilla. If a rogue was bold enough to ride his mount towards battle because it was faster than trying to stealth there, I would promptly remind them that mind vision had an incredibly long range.

Sounds like this mind vision spell needs to be nerfed

A perfectly reasonable conversation to have, but I kind of like it. It’s one of the few real counters to stealth in vanilla and has limited value. Only the priest that cast it can actually see the rogue and the priest can’t do anything else while channeling it. One heal, one shield, one spell of any kind and poof… the rogue is gone for good.

It’s sort of a stand off between the priest and rogue. The rogue cant come close without getting SW:P dropped on him, and the priest can’t do anything but stare at the rogue. It’s an interesting interaction.
