Midnight Speculation Thread (Spoilers!)

The most memorable part of the plaguelands to be quite honest.

I mean, it was like 80% of the plaguelands, iirc.

That and the uh… somethingsomething Farmstead with the little ghost girl.

Well I was combining both East and West.

All the side stories were kind of meshed together in the East, but the West was far more forgettable outside of Hearthglen. And even then…

I actually lament the change to the Plaguelands.

They had a certain magic in classic, I thought. They were deep into enemy territory, the most befouled and wicked of places where only the most foolhardy and desperate could hope to eke out a meager and bitter existence.

They eventually got turned into one of Cataclysm’s lazier storylines and that’s a pity. The Plaguelands made Tirion what he was. The only friendly land for miles and it was just some kook in the woods.

I miss the old Plaguelands sometimes. Mistakenly wandering into EPL at a fairly low level was a genuinely harrowing experience.

Doing the EPL advanced and reverse flying races where you have to fly around those mushrooms and arches without crashing took me like 10 tries, so it can still be harrowing sometimes

I sometimes do too.

Cataclysm unfortunately took a lot of the feel of danger out of a lot of end-game zones for me. Places like Plaguelands and The Burning Steppes always just felt so distant, and once you got there, hoo…

There’s times where I miss having to take the long treks to get from point A to point B, and the scale still felt so much bigger (still does to an extent on Classic)… but then I do some transmogging, skyriding, and raid without having to poopsock and forget.

I don’t purely because it’s where Nathanos used to be.

He should have just died like any normal goon, why didn’t he stay DEAD I’d double tap him any day of the week get that feign death nonsense outta here.

Nathanos said we were just sending him back to Sylvanas, right? Did anything come of that? Because if he shows up again, that would be a little funny.

I think the ultimate funniest thing while also infuriating me to several levels of hatred would be to bring him back in Midnight as, in some terrible way, one of the people who answer the call that apparently goes out.

I think I’d actually cry tears of blood.

I can’t wait for Nathanos’ redemption arc.

“What do you mean Sylvanas is a good girl now?!”

sigh

“Here you are my Queen, I baked these poppyseed muffins for you, just the way you like.”

Nathanos and Sylvanas Jaeger-piloting the Jailer’s rusting corpse out of the Shadowlands to beat the cheeks off of some gigantic Void Horror that Xal’atath has summoned to overwhelm the Sunwell’s defenders would be hilarious on several levels.

Also I think I gave myself an aneurism thinking about it. Can anyone else smell burnt toast and honeycomb?

I would absolutely love it if Nathanos came back as a vendor.

Same guy. Same personality. Same voice actor. Just now he sells bread or something.

No explanation. No lore. Nobody ever acknowledges he used to be something else. He’s just a really sinister dude who sells bread now.

I would buy his bread just to throw it at him.

Well that’s just grand. Now I have that muffin man song rattling around in my brain.

Okay, not speculation, but a question. Has one done The Grifter quest, or is in the process of doing it? Does it take forever, or is it just me and the hatred that they RNG Gods have for me? I’m down to 2 items, the Luck potion and the shoe whatever. I’ve watched videos and killed a whole bunch of stuff and nothing for 2 days. I just want to know if I’m doing anything wrong.

Being able to get a full set of honor level gear without having to pay out the nose for crafted PvP gear will be super nice.

so in my guild discord and just everywhere, i keep seeing WoW’s story compared to FFXIV so guess who’s installing FFXIV at last. i guess some folks are saying Xal is a cornier version of a guy in FFXIV called Elmer Fudd so now I want to play threw the story and see how it all compares because I need something to distract me from this distressing timeline we are in

Somebody came along and pulled my short hairs over not following up on the Turalyon scphiel.

I’ll tackle … Lor’themar next? Or do we want Velen? I have piles of research here, I just have to find the will and the energy to do something worthwhile with it.

Fair warning: FFXIV’s story is a SLOG. I was never personally impressed with it and quit after Heavensward. YMMV, a lot of people really do enjoy it and it’s probably due to me just not being an anime fan in general/being too ADHD, so you might really dig it. But it is very, very slow-paced. Just be prepared for it feeling a lot different pacing-wise than WoW or most MMOs.

But on another note, I hear you on distressing timelines. I keep thinking I should update my RDR2 mods and just go ride a horse and pick some flowers as my favorite broody cowboy to get my mind off things, or finish my dino park in Prehistoric Kingdom since that just came out with a new patch. I just need one more ring in WoW and then I’m done gearing for the season and just want to RP and collect transmogs.
