To some players, this seems unfair since Blizzard already charges a monthly $15.00 fee in order to play the game and have access to all it’s digital game content.
There has been a cash-shop as well as paid services for some time. but it seems that Blizzard is implementing a more aggressive monetization model, by introducing virtual currency. That some people think is a predatory monetization method.
So what do you think in light of the above quoted information; Is this new virtual currency monetization model fair or unfair to the players?
Or. You don’t care either way, because you never have bought anything in the cash-shop. And never will.
As a source of information to what Predatory Game Monetization and Virtual Currency can lead into, here’s a video to explain it all:
I think $15.00 a month is perfectly fair. You may or may not like the changes / updates / state of the game yadda yadda. But you can not deny that since they have stuck to the whole roadmap thing they started back in SL, content delivery has been scheduled, communicated and at a good volume. It also extends beyond the scope of retail, with things like Classic, SoD, Remix and Plunderstorm.
The box price is what I think is too much. It should all come down by $20. So base would be $30, Heroic $50, and Epic $70.
Box price, expansion price, monthly sub price, and then an in game store. Yeah it’s thievery, but they get away with because of the massive number of people who defend the company’s honor more strongly than they would defend their own.
I feel like it’s a fair amount. Yes, there are free to play options but if you want an awe some transmog it’s $30 or more bank space or more currency or more whatever. They are all asking for you spend money one way or another
People who think we should get rid of it are either naive or stupid.
Blizz won’t get rid of their money cow. If they get rid of the sub, they are going to replace with something equal or worse to make up for it. And knowing them, it will be worse. I’ll stick to the sub thanks.
Or, like I’ve said above, they’ll just replace it. This isn’t a matter of “defending” it’s a matter of knowing what kind of company Blizz is.
WoW as a value prospect is definitely not the worst thing you can be spending money on for entertainment, there’s AAA titles that you barely get like a few sit downs worth of time out of which even on sale can be multiple months of WoW, but with Microsoft at the helm I definitely think there could be a break in the decorum and have a sub increase at some point, or an attempt to roll it into the Game Pass at the very least
