The game has a steep learning curve. I believe that back when it started a lot of young people in high school and college were playing and there were always plenty of people around you could go to and ask advice. For lots of kids it was a major part of their social group.
Today there are lots of people on their own looking for something to do. And while there is wowhead and plenty of videos talking about the game, they are not easy to find. There is very simple information on how to move, shoot, etc, very advanced info on how to do a specific raid but it is scattered all around.
What the game could add is a set of tutorials that take you through each level showing you how to do things. It should be simple to find. For example, one time I stumbled across a pretty good in game tutorial on healing but it was on the top of a mountain late in the Panda expansion. That type of thing should be easy for a low experience player to find.
Class/talent tree pruning, with the goal to only have a limited amount of debuffs and buffs that the game will track for you. Thereās way too many unimportant passives and plates to spin which arent even tracked well with the base UI.
I mean Iāve watched a ton of āBrand New WoW Player plays for the first timeā Youtube videos the past two years and 70% of the time the person starting the game ends up doing the level 1-10 tutorial and then getting lost with the whole chromie stuff
you know we keep pretending that brand new players are coming to this game and I really donāt think they are lol. Most of them probably donāt want to grind that many levels and if we are getting new players, itās because people are inviting friends to come try the game, which means the friends can show them around. And as convoluted as this entire storyline is with all of the zones having multiple purposes to some extent, I would imagine they are gonna try it for about three weeks drop it and go back to their Xbox. I would almost bet money on the fact that anyone who is playing this game right now and who will be playing it at midnight are people who have been playing well for at least two expansions if not 12.
