If you expected anything else you don’t know Blizzard.

I am unbelievably, unfathomably excited. I cannot express how much I’ve been hoping for housing features in WoW and its looking like it’s going to be everything I could ever want and more. I’m so full of ideas, I can’t wait to get started!!

Can I create a Vampire themed castle in the zone with plenty of rain?

Blizzard allows you to change the “shape” of the entire floor plan. For most part, you seem to be able to make your floor plan any shape and almost any size (I’m sure there is a limit) you like - so I guess another plus WoW has over FFXIV housing wise is Blizzard gives you a lot more internal space. In FFXIV you have to bend your design to fit whatever shape the rooms are.

Yeah. I was really surprised they even had said that to begin with but it must have been some miscommunication. Still sucks. I do wonder though what they meant by “neutral architecture” though.

This means that an Alliance neighborhood will always feature Alliance architecture, and a Horde neighborhood will always feature Horde architecture. Neutral architecture can appear in either neighborhood type.

I’m not surprised we have to stick to alliance outside looks and horde outside looks depending on which faction neighborhood you are building your home in, and I’m ok with it. I am however extremely curious what the neutral architecture will be. I hope it’s just not generic stuff and that maybe it’s looks from expansions like Valdrakken or Revendreth or Drustvar etc. I’d prefer my alliance look pandaren, gilnean or draenei on the outside and my horde to be undead, but since we aren’t starting with those, I reaalllly hope the neutral looks are cool and not boring.

Right now the exteriors we can use are orc/human/blood elf/night elf but maybe they’ll add like pandaren or dragon or something exteriors, stuff that isn’t distinctly one faction.

One question I still haven’t seen answered: How do neighborhoods work with Cross-Faction guilds? Do we just choose between whichever of the two we want?

The exterior options feel needlessly restrictive. Once again if I make a cross-faction guild neighborhood, people should be able to use Horde or Alliance architecture. I could kind of understand for public neighborhoods, but not private.

Honestly restricting public neighborhoods to their faction aesthetic is a good idea, on the exterior anyway.

Faction identity is still important, and they said there would be neutral options as well.

I think it’d be very jarring to walk around Elwynn forest and see Orc/blood elf architecture, or to walk around Durotar and see Night elf/human architecture.

But like you said, a private guild should be able to do whatever they want and have no restrictions.

So you are saying itʻs a bad thing that players want to creatively use items to build … “unusual works of art”… in their yards for all to see?

“Ah, yes. I call this piece: Mushroom and 2 Walnuts”

All i can say is don’t live next door to an Orc.

Nope sorry. VE’s have already taken enough from BE’s.

The difference is that FF XIV was made with all that in mind. WoW was made 20 years ago and housing wasn’t a concern to Blizzard back then.

Blizzard is taking baby steps with housing cause they want to get it right. I’m sure the color options will be expanded in the future as well as the other options.

Kinda irritated that we won’t be able to pick which house we want regardless of neighborhood. Especially since they went with an annoying choice of only limited faction specific neighborhoods to start. Makes me wish that they had also given us a third, neutral neighborhood where we could just pick what we wanted and did not have to deal with the faction nonsense.

For people talking about the exterior stuff, though. I think the “barber shop style” options are just for the house itself. Pretty sure there is gonna be yard decor. In fact, absolutely sure, since yard decor was included in the pre-order of the expansion.

If you have an Alliance character and a Horde character, both will be able to own one house in either the Horde or Alliance Neighborhood zones as well.

This is a very ambiguous statement on the number of homes we’re allowed, imo. I did a double take. Perhaps the author meant both would be able to share one house?

Because I have already let my hope of multiple homes, actually suited to the specific character who lives in them, die.

(At least in the near future. I’m still holding out hope that this is baby steps to a more expansive system.)

You know, the restriction that houses need to match their neighbourhood I feel is because Blizzard is worried that players might avoid the Orc housing area. You want Blood Elf architecture? You got to build in Orc lands - with the ugly public Orc architecture all over the place.

That makes so much sense. I don’t know why I completely forgot about Neutral races as an option. I thought like some very bland exterior that was ambiguous.

So how are plots going to work in public instances? If you dont get the plot you want, you need to wait for another instance to spawn?

This is wrong. WoW housing was considered ever since vanilla was released. You can actually find the unused portals to the original housing zone in classic stormwind as well as the original datamined files.

It never was going to be. That’s just typical Blizzard bs sales talk.

" … while your Horde characters can live in your Alliance house and your Alliance characters can live in your Horde house, you won’t be able to use opposite faction exteriors in that neighborhood. This means that an Alliance neighborhood will always feature Alliance architecture, and a Horde neighborhood will always feature Horde architecture."

This is fine for public neighborhoods, but charter or guild neighborhoods shouldn’t be restricted. How will a cross faction guild work?

Where does the article say this?

“Boundless self expression awaits you” but not an alliance brick in a horde neighborhood says big WoW :joy::joy::joy::joy::joy:
