I told my friends from FF, Lotro, (Rift) etc, that WoW could be my “only” game if …IF…they’d add housing. Had to keep playing the others for that element.

I just re-subbed for a year and you got me. 3 HUGE cheers for the team working on this! (love that I’m seeing re-sizing of objects and not just x, y and z axis, but also angled…love it!) Also love you are allowing clipping of objects so we can create new objects from those that you’ve given us. LOVE that. From someone who used to hold housing contests in other games because I was so involved…thank you, for finally bringing this to my first and arguably, favorite, mmo. /happy dance

No outdoor decorations, just a combo of appearances … that’s a bit disappointing.

Missed opportunity for making money too as outdoor decorations will probably sell better than indoor ones as they are visible to others without entering your house.

So on several interviews we were told that we’d be able to use exteriors regardless of faction/zone, and now we’re being told we can’t?

It’s important to note that while your Horde characters can live in your Alliance house and your Alliance characters can live in your Horde house, you won’t be able to use opposite faction exteriors in that neighborhood.

What gives? This feels really restrictive. If my understanding is correct, we can still use opposite faction interiors just not exteriors. Why not free up both? It’s been said time and time again now that Blizzard built this feature expecting most of the playerbase to be in Guild or Charter neighborhoods rather than public, but now we’re restricting cross-faction housing for… some reason?

If you’re going to keep this, why not apply this restriction only to Public Neighborhoods as opposed to all of them, since I presume the idea is to keep things looking cohesive. Themes and restrictions should be up to the occupants to decide, not be something forced on us.

I think they are trying to control what is allowed outside for obvious reasons due to some players even though they say they are adults most times they can’t act like adults with certain things in many online games.

Think outside the box now…and what kind of players you run into though out this game at any time now…its very obvious why…some folks just can’t act like adults is my thinking…I could be wrong but reading some of past posts over the last few months about housing and what can be done…yeah I think that is why now…

I wager it’s for technical reasons. Since outdoor appearances are restricted, it’s easier to transmit the information to all players in the neighborhood.

Still an unfortunate limitation though. You can’t really show off to the rest of the neighborhood - although I suppose there could be prestige “skins” for outdoors; still can’t really flex your creativity and art skills.

I don’t mind not being able to decorate the exterior of the home, but it would be great if we can create outdoor environments inside the home. I don’t see much in the way of laying down grass carpet, blocks of water, or getting a skybox ceiling.

So interior only?

That’s rather disappointing.

I was hoping for landscaped yards, water features etc…

They really need to add these. It will make the houses less claustrophobic and dark.

Why doesn’t it have this.
Why doesn’t it have that.
Why can’t I do this.

  • Private Neighborhoods – These are created and owned by players, either by Guilds as Guild Neighborhoods, or by arbitrary groups of players as Charter Neighborhoods.

Damn, even Azeroth is gonna have gated communities. Can’t wait for my guild commune.

Is this something that we can partner with other small groups/guilds to get going? Currently my guild is like 4 people. lol

With the new gated communities feature, your HoA Karen dreams are only a patch and a half away.

I’m just glad that you have to pay for the next expansion for this cosmetic game-play feature. Probably the main reason most will buy it.

I’m as excited to play it as Holly was to announce it.

Not outdoor building. That probably has to be build in from the start.

the house which has the two caravans, the boat, the horse float, and 3 dead cars on the lawn, makes the neighborhood look like junk.

No idea what you’re trying to insinuate. There’s nothing immature about wanting blood elf exteriors for my void elf’s house. Also idk about you but 99% of the people I meet in WoW are never even remotely toxic. But, again, there’s not really a way to be toxic just by choosing blood elf wallpaper as opposed to night elf wallpaper.

So excited!! Can’t wait!!

Exactly what I came in here to say. I understand public neighborhoods needing this restriction, but private/guild neighborhoods are managed entirely by players and should not have these restrictions. If I want to put my blood elf house in the part of the Alliance housing area that vaguely resembles Eversong Woods, I should be able to do so in the privacy of my own guild neighborhood.

Exaaaactly! Especially considering they’ve said numerous times by now that they expect most of the playerbase to use Guild/Charter neighborhoods. Like??? So my Orc can make a house with my Alliance guild, but she doesn’t get access to Orc housing styles? Make it make sense.

I never thought this day would come… I’m ecstatic.
