Midnight Combat for Everyone, is Combat for No one

“This ladder has a top step and a bottom step, how many more does it really need?” The idea is for people to be able to progress from just hitting random buttons, to actually beginning to understand their spec, to grasping its intricacies, without having to run to a guide every five minutes to explain the seventy trivial details that get in the way of the spec actually being fun.

Let’s examine those character activities, OH WOW how shocking. Has never done any raids or Mythic plus well then. Immediately opinion holds no value, Enjoy the one button :+1:

Support streamlining. Hekili add-on isn’t popular for nothing. One button rotation was probably much more popular than people admit too.

The key is not to remove cool outplay moments with utility, but remove stuff that is weakaura maintenance and proc filler.

I only started playing WoW a year ago so I am kinda new. I personally enjoy the gameplay and using addons that I can customize to fit my needs. Shame I only got to experience that for a short time. Will most likely look for another MMO that isn’t being re-worked after 20 years of consistency… smh

You know that half the player base is gone if you do this, right?
Blizzard always half-bakes their takes on addons, leaving us with an inferior feature.

And I don’t see them ever doing something like Altoholic and/or Savedinstances, which have become mandatory for my gameplay throughout my account’s chars.

I’m not returning to spreadsheets for tracking activities. I’ll just quit.

And I know that I’m just one of literally tens of thousands who would outright quit if all addons were banned.

Literally no one needs to do that. They need to read their skills and talents, and be able to interpret interactions. That is all.

Some changes that reduce obscure interactions of obtuse gameplay are welcome, dumbing down everything is not.

So far though, looking at the alpha notes, the combat damage gameplay changes have been somewhat good, but at least to mages, they massively nerfed utility and survavibility, to the point I’m considering quitting WoW.

No, this is a good change for players. Banning addons will force Blizzard to add essential functions in the default game, which makes the experience more streamlined for everyone with less lag, bugs or errors.

Altoholic or SavedInstances are some of the easiest functions to integrated into default UI. If Blizzard decides to ban them, their functions will be added in game next day.

Same ive been playing for 2 years but apparently these changes are for people like me. Ridiculous.

I love your naivety.

I’d definitely agree with you if anything Blizzard added in the place of a popular addon were at minimum just as good as the replaced addon, but they never are.

So, I have to hard disagree here.

Back in Vanilla where there were practically double the amount of abilities I have access to now on my Shaman and less than 5% of the playerbase ever saw the completion of Naxx, the game had a higher player base. Millions more.

Accessibility as an excuse is BS.

It feels like they’re using accessibility as an excuse to gut the game and make their jobs easier / make it quicker to pump out content.

We don’t need the game to be simplified or dumbed down.

In trying to capture a few hundred more players, they’re going to lose thousands. I thought they learned their lesson after Shadowlands. Dragonflight brought a lot of good changes (return of buffs, talent trees, etc.) and now it seems like they’re regressing.

why does blizzard want to dumb down the game when i can use an add-on to dumb it down myself

1000% correct

They took my frakking interrupt. I don’t need to be able to play it right now to know they’ve screwed up.

I’m glad you asked!

Simplified rotations feed right into “it’s easier for the SBA to do properly.”

As a SBA player, I’m ecstatic!

Why are you so worried the skill gap will still be there. It was there in vanilla when classes were 1 button lmao. Dont worry dude it will still be plenty complex enough

You’re hardly better dude

Absolutely disagree with op. Come on with the modernization. It’s time. Let’s make the game inviting again.

It’s not about the skill gap at all, it’s about the enjoyment of the spec and gameplay. That enjoyment comes from the complexity of the class.

Great edit there😂

Came here to say this. It’s obvious now. MSFT demands Xbox port right meow.

So far they still look fun to me, hard to say until we actually play them but it isnt the 1st time classes have changed and it wont be the last its how it goes

Especially for people who don’t want to spend 3 hours reading the ridiculous amount of crap in the Talent Trees anymore and just grab a build from WoWhead, they probably have no idea why sometimes a button lights up, or why is it they can use an ability sometimes but not other times, or why sometimes randomly it does 5x the damage it normally does with no on-screen indicator, etc.

There is a lot of convolution going on.

This is a frustrating topic to discuss when you realize that a significant number of players would be happy if wow’s combat was just spamming a single attack button and having no need to move your character during combat.

Basically, the complexity of a cell phone game.
