Really confused here. Everyone is asking for it to be merged, however, I see EmeraldDream and ArgentDawn players everywhere I go. What’s all the fuss about?
@Qranq, Xenkore puts it pretty succinctly. This, plus all of the economic woes that come from a tiny server.

Some classic servers are getting connections, marking yet another round of server actions initiated by blizzard where we are getting passed over.

…if they’re gonna merge it, merge it w/ a server with a small Horde, big Alliance population. Too many Horde on ER, makes questing a pain.
When Merging was a BIG thing… at the time Earthen Ring RP community voiced strongly against any merge. That is probably the main reason they have not merged this realm with any other. Of course then the RP community hung itself…and that RP community is now nothing but waste land. Maybe Blizzard will reconsider a merge now.
It was a wasteland for some time, so I doubt it. At this point, I just kinda want the game to burn down entirely so that we can all just collectively move onto something else. The only option is server transferring, and for all that Blizz has ignored what players want, what their own employees want, and our server on top of that… Uh, yeah. I’m happy to keep something going as best as I can for my guildies because I love them, but I’m not going to advertise they keep playing the game. Quite the opposite, I’ve encouraged people to leave and for us to explore other gaming options. WoW’s sucked for years, now, and I can’t wait to have something else that everyone of my friends and guildies want to play together. All Blizz has ever done is ignore player feedback until it’s WAY too late. Just look at good ol’ Earthen Ring. Even if they do merge us, I will personally still never forgive them for taking this long to even acknowledge us.

P.S. Recruiting for an Alliance raiding guild on a dead server is a NIGHTMARE.

This is how I am feeling lately too. It’s been so long that we’ve been flat out ignored, at this point I’m almost taking it personally.
Also at this point we’ve started our guild on Moon Guard and have been recruiting there. Can’t squeeze blood out of a rock, or can’t recruit on a dead realm. Or at least it’s really, really hard to recruit people interested in staying on a dead/dying realm. I can’t even imagine the nightmare and probably morale crusher that is trying to recruit for PvE here.
If we can’t beat them, I guess we’ll join them. At least this way I can bring RP and PvE to my guildies on ER.
Hey everyone! I totally agree that something needs to be done #merge but there’s no telling when or if blizz will do something about it. I know alot of guilds have started playing on MG/WrA to help build up ranks for Earthen Ring and id like to do the same.
Recently started an Alliance side community on Earthen Ring to attempt to connect RPers on all realms as well as maybe bring folks over to Earthen Ring!

I found this thread while perusing the forums. I’m not going to try and claim that I know what the situation is like on Earthen Ring, because I don’t really play on your server. However, I did roll a low level Alliance character on ER the other evening and stood in Trade District. It was eerie how empty and quiet it was there.
I’ve been trying to drum up attention about connecting more realms on the General Discussion forums, and the threads only get a fraction of the attention I think they should; I feel like a lot of people have already abandoned their old servers and now play on one of the one-sided mega servers, so they stopped caring.
I can’t imagine what it’s like to try and recruit for PvE progression on this server - I would have given up ages ago. It seems very unfair that every other low population RP realm has been connected (as well as most Classic realms) but Earthen Ring has been ignored.
It begs the question - are there a lot of unplayed alts Horde-side in AIE that are inflating ER’s population numbers? I can’t think of any other reason why Blizzard has declined to connect Earthen Ring. However, I don’t want to put the blame on them - this is 100 percent on Blizzard.
I mean, there’s absolutely unplayed alts all over the place. I can’t point to any particular thing that caused us to not get merged apart from the possibility that some of us are still busting our asses to bring people here with some success, and this server can see brief population spikes when an expac launches. That always dies out, though. In Nyalotha, Blood Fist got CE, and we got 11/12, which also could maybe have said “Hey, look, there’s clearly activity there.” I dunno. Blizz won’t talk to us. We as a server are united in blaming them so. I dunno. Maybe they feel, since we already blame them, what can they do to change that? Which, I agree. They could merge us tomorrow, and while I would be happy about that, that wouldn’t change how long they ignored us, and I would still blame them for that moreso than I’d appreciate their action. That probably doesn’t help our cause. xD But, at this moment, Blizzard probably feels it has more to worry about than its players. Not that it particularly cared about them before, what with their culture of blaming the playerbase for issues and challenges they refused to accept that they created.
There’s a pessimism in the dark, neglected places of WoW. A pall that shows when you ask people what they think Blizzard will do to fix things - and that answer is wordless. A shrug. These people aren’t here for Blizzard. They’re here for their friends and family that many would love to be able to do anything else with, but can’t. This is the one thing they all have in common. And Blizz is happy to milk that for all the money they can. The alternative involves caring, but Blizz can’t care about us more than it cares about itself, and lately it’s shown that it doesn’t really care about itself either. Just money. Only and always money.

Sprucing up my bank and inventory and it’s kinda depressing seeing my rare BoEs like Varruth’s Guillotine that are worth a ton for transmog but can almost never find a buyer.
I’m still waiting for the EarthenRing to merge with another. It’s the server of my first mains, my first home … I couldn’t transfer them, but I’ve moved on. I’d be back if the EarthenRing were ever merged. Thanks to all the realm phases, the slow realm has no advantages with finding rare or scarce materials. Yet, you still don’t have people to RP with, form guilds with, and … a merge would be nice.
