I’ll assume that you know very little about virtualized server environments based on your question. Blizzard/Activision run the WOW environment on private on-prem HCI cloud environments. (Hyperconverged infrastructure)

Virtual servers in clusters running the same Operating system, same application, same patch versions, etc can be consolidated easily enough using functions that doesnt require detailed presentations, capital investments, shareholder buy-in.
