For the record I don’t bring it up to say don’t ask, I just figure it might help some folk now rather than have to wait for blizzard to decide to give that option.
I’m less for the toggle option (turning it on and off actively I mean.) personally, as I often forget them, but more options for the visual aspect is definitely something I’d like to see.
Alleria’s version of it is glorious. I hope our tattoos/warpaint look so good when we get them…
Because the player has nothing to do inGame, especially on a RP-server… of all things.
Having High Elves playable now on the Alliance is the biggest milestone win you’ll have in a while. Just be glad that everyone of the “antis” have been proven wrong not only once but twice now with the Dark Ranger options. You’re a full fledged High Elf from the looks and it is also supposed to be a High Elf option. It could be better, yes, but let’s just hope you’ll end up as a new player race.
We all do enjoy seeing Blizzard winding in their own uncomfortable misery once they realize that the leading director made a big mistake which had and still has repercussions half a decade later. It’s a permanent reminder that, whoever made this call, made a mistake and they have to live with this until it’s redone so all three crowds give the topic finally a rest.
Always remember: The developers read these topics. Imagine the person responsible for this chaos feeling annoyed because their decision-making was that of an amateur.
As I said in that comment, it was in one of the vocal interviews they did around the announcement of the Void Elves. I believe Ian was who actually said it specifically. But I could be wrong on who the speaker was.
People actually LOVE shadow magic, shadow realms, and love-craftian goodness. That’s part of the reason that SO many franchises have them, or involve them. The Darkness will always be popular.
That aside, we’ve went back and forth a few times, and I get that you’re upset for not getting what you wanted, I was too for a long time, I’ve just learned to appreciate what we have, and I know we’re likely to get more down the line.
But just know, that I do at least understand your frustrations.
They really do not care about visual uniqueness or Blood Elves, it’s just resentment towards helfers and discord drama. That sums it all up pretty much
This isn’t entirely accurate, while there is a small group that had discord wars, not everyone against void elves getting high elf appearances was apart of that.
Additionally, like with wildhammer dwarves being mixed with bronzebeard dwarves, such sub races should had been treated far more better, and players that do enjoy void elves for what they are should also have been treated better then having their race watered down.
Never really understood this narrative, void elves were watered down lore wise from the start, they were born in their intro scenario with 0 mention of them or even that there was a group of blood elves interested in the void.
And if your take is that high elf options watered them down, then that’s also on blizzard for trying to run back their mistake from the start, they just weren’t brave enough to actually add a unique high elf AR like everyone actually wanted.
High elf options taking the place of possible void ones is also just hearsay, no one clamored for more void customization till after void elf got high elf customization.
That is correct. I cannot however point the finger at the specific people behaving this way because they will call their discord entourage to abuse the forum’s flagging system and mass report any post they feel offended by. Sorry if you felt alluded to.
I completely agree with this. I think the best solution to this nonsense is merging all allied races with their parent races, give the Alliance a new race in compensation for Vulpera (since they don’t have any parent race to be merged with) and under the category of “High Elf” we should have the option of choosing a Blood Elf, an Alliance High Elf, a Void Elf or a Darkfallen elf.
Same with Dwarves.
I disagree that their race was “watered down”, but I do get the feeling of not getting a single customization based on the void. I’m sure they’ll come in a near future.
Fair points, still I think we could get that long hair option without ripping it from blood elves . . . fel would could get the ACTUAL Malfoy style. Only reason I didn’t post more examples is because I didn’t want to flood the threat with pics.
In a way i do not think this idea goes far enough. I have made a thread discussing about an idea of how to go about going further;
It is watered down. One of the void’s strongest attributes is curruption and mutation, having void powers and looking like an ordinary elf goes against the void theme.
This is a reason i put that guy on ignore, fen’s thread existed long before VE’s even got their skin tones.
I appreciate your honesty, but just remember both the discords are guilty of causing drama. I dunno who started it nor care at this point as i see them both on the wrong.
It is the best idea blizzard had.
Their execution was terrible though.
The blueberries should have been the Silver Covenant turned void rather than Blood Elves turned void.
By giving them a larger void theme, the Void Elves seperated themselves from the Blood Elf story. They were not only given a potential new road in the storyline, they were also made the direct opposite of what the Blood Elves are.
It is a brilliant idea executed terribly by first of all making the Void Elves a ragtag band of Blood Elves. Blizzard should retcon that, remove the Silver Covenant and then make it so it was members of the Silver Covenant that turned blueberry.
Non of the ‘traitor’ story ques need to be changed anyway, since the ‘High Elves’ basically are traitors to their own people. Need a little change in the Nightborne introduction questline though, perhaps a little in Umbric’s and Alleria’s.
Helfers have done questionable things. I left their discord when accusations about hacking accounts were thrown. I later heard it was a prank but honestly Im not going to risk it over something as ridiculous as customizations.
2 wrongs don’t make a right. I have seen with my own eyes a dear friend of mine being persecuted and harassed by certain forum posters, and none of them were helfers. The way these people make it look like their the actual victims of harassment is disgusting, plain and simple.
I suppose developers did not want to sacrifice “normal” high elves, I imagine they will be used again in the future for a different story not involving void elves.
