Meme specs: Why a bad mage is preferable to a great moonkin

Let’s say you are running a raiding guild with an emphasis on progression and a range dps slot opens up. You are given a choice between two recruits:

1. an inexperienced mage in bad gear who can barely pull 200 dps

2. an experienced moonkin who has farmed his pre-raid bis, farms consumeables, knows the fights, and routinely pulls 400 dps

Which do you bring into the guild?

Unless the moonkin is a friend of someone in the guild, you should always bring in the noob mage. Why? Because the moonkin has very little upside that doesn’t involve taking raid drops from your higher-performing mages and warlocks.

The mage, on the other hand, can solve most of his existing problems with some experience and some basic advice on gearing and rotation, and will quickly be putting out far more dps than the balance druid.
