The amount of rage is palpable.
Classic warriors can counter hunters easily, but now that they finally can’t stand up to 1 very specific spec, all bets are off.
Get outta 'ere.

STV is a FFA cluster of getting as many kills as possible, calling targets with 5 people. You’re citing getting target-called or third partied in STV as a backbone to your argument around balance? Of course you’re going to get destroyed when 5 people target call your character, that’s not what anyone is talking about dude.
You’re delusional if you think fury is currently as strong as melee hunter
The only way to counter a hunter in classic vanilla is with Ice Reflector. Hunters have always countered warriors, but there’s actually a matchup of cc’s and counterplay that goes into it–now it’s just a onetap laughfest. You don’t even need to know how to use your kit on hunter to beat a warrior, you just spam raptor strike.
BM for AB, Full Surv LW for STV.
Where was your pet + full surv talent build supposed to shine? Duels? No rewards are handed out there.
You’re griefing your team in STV by going LW over Lion? lmao
It really isnt. They are clearly overperforming by a gross margin.
Didn’t you just say it wouldn’t make a difference in STV? lol.
No, you said that. Re-read. I said that STV is not something you should even consider in terms of how balanced a class is. People are running around with windfury melee comps and deleting people with a team of 5. Anything can happen in STV, it’s not a benchmark for balance. You should still run Lion in STV for your team, though.
The fact that you mention Ice Reflector as your one-stop niche way of countering hunters is … wild.
Every class this phase seemingly has some kind of Delete Button. Shamans Lava Lash, Chaos Bolt, Raptor Strike, etc. The problem isn’t melee hunters, it’s just we’re all REALLY low health compared to the power of these abilities.
Melee hunter’s dps is a BIT out there, agreed, but the way you’re going off because you absolutely cannot counter one spec isn’t healthy, my friend.
LW makes a bigger difference for coins. Sorry that your mental image of hunters as buffbots has been shattered.
That’s fair that a lot of classes have strong abilities that can delete you–but Lava Lash is 100% not deleting people like Raptor Strike does, and Chaos Bolt is a 3 second cast on a 12 second cooldown. No right-minded warlock is running chaos bolt in PvP, or getting the cast off unless they’re behind a tree not being targeted. You try and cast a chaos bolt in someone’s face, you’re getting destroyed. Raptor Strike = One Chaos Bolt, but it’s instant speed and on a 3s (sometimes less) cooldown.
Raptor Strike and SWD were the two primary culprits out the gate for eating a nerf. It’s wild that RS hasn’t been nerfed yet.
You are griefing your team by going melee rather than ranged.
Aaaand that’s why you run Survival and you can literally do both, and CC one of the enemy team’s players at the start of any engagement.
You end up with weak af ranged dps and no trap launcher which would be an actual reason to play SV. Great.

Weak AF ranged DPS?
Survival with Lion ends up with more AP than marks and less than a 1% crit delta, and gets 3% hit on top of 20% crit on your raptor strikes.
Survival is disgusting right now
Swap defensive stance and put on a shield? I don’t play warrior never have. I find it very boring. Your play as a warrior vs a melee hunter is physical mitigation and out lasting them IMO at least. Hunter can not recover any health without potions. Melee hunter is a good counter to warriors but it would be the same as a rogue and warrior going at it really.
You’re quoting what is known as an Outlier in statistics. Somebody who is outside the general norm of what a class/profession/activity can actually achieve. It’s not a good idea to bring these into debates as they bring about a falsification of a standpoint.
I like that you actually tried to empathize and come up with a strategy to mitigate hunter’s raptor strike, but your damage output tanks when you swap to dstance with a shield, and yes you can last about 2 seconds longer, which is enough time to soak one more raptor strike. It doesn’t work–neither does Demo shout or tclap. The only thing that works is disarming the hunter and hoping he doesn’t trap you and wait out the disarm. Then there’s the hunters running a weapon chain and our only (somewhat) answer is gone.
It’s not an outlier. He’s my really good friend and he chose to run that build after doing the math himself, and realizing that MM isn’t as good as survival for ranged DPS. Every hunter and their mom is running melee right now, so you’re not going to see an actual competitive representation of DPS from survival hunters or MM hunters.
He’s not some legendary Ahlundoh raider, either, he just picked up Hunter at the end of Phase 1 for the first time in his life.
