Er, that just means your raid isn’t playing correctly.
Oh that arms warr outgears me by a lot, im sure once Im fully geared it will shift. I also top meters during trash pulls or fights with lots of adds. But single target he is the best at least for now.
And even then at worse, even if I beat him he would still be top 5 and competitive.
UH Dk still tops since its a pet melee spec, AMZ is also heavily relied on for half the fights.
UH dk nerf hardly hit them, same as MM hunters.
This is standard, you always want a 2-to-1 ratio of ranged DPS to melee. The only exception I can think of was Mythic Gul’dan, but other than that, it’s a long-standing raid comp rule.
And the reason has nothing to do with current class tuning. The reason is simple: Ranged DPS can do fight mechanics anywhere in the room and still DPS the boss. Melee cannot.
You are again woefully missing the point. Sit this one out, the “play something else” is a dead horse and it solves NOTHING. And again, even Arms is doing BAD. The fact they doing better than Fury is not good enough. DPS should all be tuned to be within 5-10% dps of each other, as it is, Unholy is smashing every other melee dps, so they will naturally get nerfed. I am NOT a fan of focusing on those that do best, while ignoring those that do worst.
And since I know I am not a top tier mythic raiding player, I look upon the world of logs, and other sites that have logs from around the world to see how the various classes are doing. I use imperial data and not personal. I don’t compare myself to my guild or my realm even. The only true way to see the disparities, is to look at the big picture, aka the world. And EVERY SINGLE data shows melee is doing bad, with the exception of Unholy. Ret can get high, in particular on trash, but the main point is still, ALL their specs should be viable and it is NOT hard to do, they have endless data showing them how off they are and they know this, as not only have they mentioned it (but done nothing), they even knew about it during beta. The point of the game is for everyone to have fun, many don’t if they are forced to play a certain class or spec. You might think, that’s just how it is, so deal with it. And that’s fine, but that is a terrible point of view for game designers, and it’s a crappy way to play for casual players.
I get beat plenty by Paladins, Mages, BM Hunters and Arms warriors depending on the situation I find myself in. There are 3 fights in Nathria where AMZ is useful btw and thats only really for learning the fights, you can absolutely forego the amz.
Oh I know. But you failed to understand, I referred to range are out performing melee dps on TARGET DUMMIES. That they do better in raids, is fine, to a point, but that they do better in stand still and unload, is rather pathetic.
Or the other players just suck lol. They are the ones not playing correctly if a warrior tops.
Well I raid in a casual guild who only meets once a week for strictly 2 hours to raid, its all on normal. Just the way it shook out. Sure there are people who are better than others and that arms warrior always brings his game face with every possible consume and a fully customized UI.
Mythic+ is the same, I avoid melee like plague this week, taking max 1 if I know them, if I’m pugging dps, I grab ranged.
I’d also like to point out that it takes more then raw dps to be good in a fight. Mobility and survivability are also useful, but pretty much anyone who can keep their head abovewater is an asset to the group.
Look at Artificer, running the portals to the correct positions so ghosts don’t eat the group. Look at switching to the Shade of Barghast at the right time and making sure not to break CC on it beforehand.
I still remember fights like Socrethar, Dark Shaman, and Mimiron when it was current because you had to dance like Fred Estaire and bring your A game.
And why don’t these guys who make these posts ever do it on their main??
This is literally the most “works fine on my PC” comment right now.
There were some comments made after that, maybe keep reading. I didn’t really understand what OP was saying at first but its apparent he wants everything nerfed or fury buffed so that he can play his preferred spec.
I went on to say that the Arms spec for warriors is competitive in DPS.
Yea i got removed from raid group because rogues got nerfed so hard and stacking that with how hard it is for melee they didnt want me. I survived to the end of every fight but that doesnt matter I guess
Sorry you can’t afk tunnel the boss and ignore mechanics.
Maybe you’re a 12 yr old kid with no life trolling. I am gonna take that over what BS you typed.
I mean I’m not trying to attack you I’m just saying Unholy is really strong right now. Melee might have a harder time in raid right now but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t play it. There’s other melee classes that OP could play that have more options available like Enhancement shaman or any of the rogue specs.
I’m sorry you’re mad? The topic is Melee DPS in raids not “Fury warriors need help” I replied based on the topic name thinking he was speaking in general about all Melee dps.
I made the further contribution that if he wants to top meters to switch to Arms which was met with “REEEEEEE”
I just noticed that OP isnt even playing at mythic level. Why does he care? Arms performs fine at the level he is playing at.
You’ve got this part backwards. Melee’s advantage is being able to continue DPSing without losing much even in high movement situations. Casters will always perform best when able to sit and cast.
Casters doing better in raids, especially when you see specs like Affliction, Shadow, and Balance doing well, is usually due to fights with ranged cleave where melee has a disadvantage. Not always, but good to keep in mind that raid logs don’t always indicate a spec’s ability to do boss damage. Burst AoE specs, such as Fire, Marksman, and Unholy, are also getting a lot of boost from add-heavy fights where adds need to die quickly. Warriors also probably do better on these fights than others if I had to guess.
The problem mechanically for melee is that you have a much more limited space to work in than ranged, which can get crowded with void zones and the like quickly if there’s too many. Hence why more ranged is usually preferred.
All this being said, just enjoy what you enjoy. If you’re not competing at a high level and your guild thinks you need to switch to something else to be able to progress through normal/heroic, there’s probably more problems with your group than that will solve. Most fights are mechanics-based after all.
