**MEGA** Server

The only reason Classic WoW is here; is because of a private server, that knew what good MMO’s are all about… and that’s having a massive population of an active player-base community. Nostalrius had a 12k pop server and it ran pretty good. The community was thriving and lively in every single zone and it’s truly what made it popular and amazing. Blizzard, please just make at least 1 mega fresh server, just to see how it works outs. I hate layering with a passion and most real players know it’s horrible for the community. Yes, Q times were pretty ridiculous recently, but layering is just silly and a detriment to open world. All I’m asking, is to please try a mega server out and see how it does. xoxo

Mega server with layers. I dont want to have to compete to kill a quest mob.

Nobody wants your pirate server trash.

No! Layering. You don’t want to compete with anyone? Well guess what, that’s life and what makes things challenging and meaningful. Go back to BFA if you want everything handed to you

Yes layers because 40 people waiting to kill 1 quest mob will kill the game.
You dont want layers because you want to keep the price of gathering materials high…

You have no clue what your talking about. It wouldn’t kill the game it would create a thriving community. Nost had people lining up for quest drops, mobs, and bosses. Questing isn’t the only way to level in the game, so that’s your own fault for choosing that path. I’d rather have a thriving congested competitive world, than one that feels dead. You’re the exact type of player and reason why retail/BFA WoW is trash. “Make the game easier for me; because I’m inpatient and don’t want any competition”.

Look, I don’t know what the Classic servers have for a population cap but whatever it is it’s too high. The actual game world can only support so many people and I would argue that the current servers running at a queue are already above the point that a realm is enjoyable.

That isn’t “thriving and lively” that is frustrating and unplayable.

What is so frustrating about it?

I thought I was clear on that point, but competing for a limited amount of resources. Whether that means quest mobs, ore, herbs, blood of heroes… whatever the case may be when the population gets too high it becomes extremely frustrating trying to collect or kill those resources.

The Qs are high, because 6k players are trying to log in on a 3k pop server. Nost had very little trouble running 12k pop servers in France, so I’m sure Blizzard would have no problem running a MEGA server, with 12k-20k pop. It’s just one server and to see how it will work. Why are so many people being Elite Gatekeepers about this? You aren’t Tuskamus, but Blizz could at least try and see how it works.

ummm 12k players at the same time on a server without lag from a private server…Id like to see the server stats on that one. I doubt that some dudes setup a home server to take in that sort of traffic. If your talking about that many charaters? I would believe that a server can hold 12k characters but thats with 10 characters on 1 account in theory…

Yeah, well it was a thing and why Nost got so popular and why Blizzard took such a quick turn to give us Classic. It’s possible, but yeah 12k players all in the same zone would lag, but that’s not how it was. 12k population was spread out throughout the world and you saw players everywhere. It was so incredible and amazing.

If you think my post was about queue times, you need to read it again.

edit: To be clear, I only mentioned the queue as a sort of measuring mark. That is when you know servers are running at full capacity in terms of players allowed in the world. My point was that whatever that number is set to for Classic, is already too high.

When you refer to a server its like saying 1 computer. I doubt that a private server had a forrest setup for specific zones or instances. I would want to see proof on that as having 1 single server even if it was very beastly it would struggle with the amount of data it would have to process.

No, the reason Classic is here is because some people who insisted on living in the past were making money off of Blizzard’s property that was legally stolen. And because of how copyright laws work in other countries, their power over them was somewhat limited, so a re-release of the game had to be made for them to maintain their full rights internationally.

Oh wow, so … almost nobody that plays Classic is from the tiny private server community, in contrast to the massive numbers of people who play unpirated WoW?

Me too, but I prefer to play on a server that currently has it on. What’re you going to do? If I cared that much, I’d play on one of the several servers without it.

Actually, I think this is a pretty cool idea. :+1:

In a sense you’re correct. WoW classic is here because of private servers, specifically so that Blizzard can sue private servers.

You and I know that the private servers did a whole lot that was really good but the mega server concept wasn’t one of those things. It was nice if you like leveling alts constantly, but we have ways to do that even now on the classic servers without layering and without mega servers. All you need to do is coordinate a leveling group who play together regularly, your experience will be far better, your progress will be more efficient, and you will have a lot more fun playing with a team of friends. That’s how we did it in real vanilla before private servers, before this classic wow thing.
