Just to lay down an example, I am a racing enthusiast. I do a lot of sim racing and I take part in racing events, be it NASCAR, F1, GTs, DTM, whatever. I race.
Obviously, I know how to drive a car around a track.
You can bet your bum that I would LOVE, LOVE LOVE it if Chevrolet would hire me for their Corvette racing team. Obviously, I can throw a car around a track, so I just should be hired.
But it doesn’t work that way, they can see my previous races, my previous scores and finishes, my penalty points, everything, and they will asses if I am a pilot worthy of their team or not.
