May we talk about Brann

What the hell is wrong with him this season. WTH as healer he should not be pulling anything!!! AND YET… He does, as well as tank positioning is abysmal. Please fix this spaz, he is suppose to be support not send me to get support from a therapist for rage management LOOL Thank you.

What positioning? He seems to be constantly moving this season. People complained about him standing in the gunk so they seem to have made him phobic of it. Every tiny little circle that drops causes Brann to move across into a new pack of mobs.

Brann sees a tiny puddle and leaps back into Narnia bringing ten packs of mobs back, only to see that same puddle again and leap back in a different direction, bringing the rest of the delves denizens to you.

Thank you for posting this. Brann is an idiot.

The biggest complaint I’ve seen so far is survivability, but those same people are rushing to 8-11’s and don’t have him even close to leveled up yet.

It’s true, and I think fixing it requires a bit of nuance.

On trash packs with short or non-fatal swirlies, it’s really not a big deal if he stands in them. And he doesn’t do a great job anyway. He’s obsessively allergic to mobs that leave slime trails, but doesn’t seem to care one bit about the nemesis packs’ area effects.

With more dangerous gunk/swirlies, if you’re melee, and he stays in them, that can be really annoying. Of course, if you’re not melee, it doesn’t matter one bit (think resto druid specializing in physical vs. magical damage)

On bosses, it’s potentially a really big deal. If I think about the boss where it’s a Goblin shooter guy and his Ogre or whatever… the Goblin puts swirlies all over the place, and they’ll one-shot you when the bombs land. If he’s tanking the Ogre in the swirlies, you’re basically doing nothing for extended periods.

It seems like Blizz uses basically “one size fits all” logic, but there’s a lot of nuance in tanking, unfortunately.

As somebody who tanks regularly for friends and even in solo content, I still stay situationally aware so that I keep the person with the huge AOE as far from the next pack as possible. So I’ll pull an entire huge group maybe around two or three up and then I will pull them back to my previous location so that I can wind them all down and move on. The problem people are having is they neglect to remember that he does have a huge AOE and that he needs to be pulled back 5 to 10 feet every time there’s a big pole otherwise he’s going to run in the opposite direction of the pack and pull the next group without your permission. you have to treat the AI dwarf like one of the oblivious people in a random run and make sure you are controlling where the combat happens.

When I look back and get happy i did pull any of the mobs on the pack i wanted to skip, Brann always makes sure to bring them along to celebrate with me and wipe.

I honestly thought leveling him up would help. He’s level 70 and still dies when 2 mobs attack him, seemingly regardless of the delve level above 5

I thought people were exaggerating with Brann. Until last night, he ended on low hp after fighting a pack of mobs. Then immediately leaped in the middle of another mobs placed on a pile of void goo.

Brann is wild this season.

Last night in the Rest delve…
I pull one of those big guys to a previous room to kill. He runs in, jumps around and pulls 4 more groups including 2 Nemesis groups. Thankfully I was on my Bear but yeah he’s broken in season 3. He also will go several minutes without throwing hp pots out.

He’s definitely a little scamp. I was fighting a nemesis pack in fungal and I watched little man start rapid-firing at one of the big worms across the room that I was definitely not in combat with. That’s just the example from yesterday - there will be more today, more tomorrow and so on. Little scamp.

well…, as a Tank and having him on heals, he’s pulling extra mobs as if i forgot to grab some thing off in the far corner of some obscure alternate reality…

like, i pulled half the mobs, because Tank. but then he goes and heals from range on the other side of the death circles pulling mobs from the far side that i would be out of range to hit if i even wanted those in the pull.

lucky the delve gives you kill sticks else it could end in a bit of disaster… maybe… because fear mechanics exist.

prob fine though. its about what random players would do… pulling extra things for the tank. He prob learned it from players. :dracthyr_a1:

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve died because he pulls 3 extra mobs for no reason yet he yells at me for dipping a toenail in a web for all of .2 seconds

Brann needs to have his aggro radius reduced by about 99%. But they can’t seem to reduce his hitbox after all this time, so I’m not getting my hopes up.

Except that his max level is 100 now. You aren’t even max level for last season, which capped at 80.

He seems to be faster at it as he levels up. I think mine is at 88 and he feels better about healing. He still darts out to other groups though.

At some point they need to turn off his herb and ore gathering ability—it just isn’t worth the extra aggro he pulls most of the time.
