I mean I dont know how to argue with a position like ‘the opinion of in game characters is X, so that makes X true no matter what, and if you disagree, you’re making things up’ so I guess I’ll just have to stop trying.
There is no argument. The only way you can argue differently is if they go back and change the quest text. No you aren’t gonna convince me that fanon is more valid than what the game actually states.
I once did a quest in Stonetalon where the quest text said, and I quote: “So these night elves send out a desperate call for help to us, goes something like this: <Gnombus changes the pitch of his voice to sound like a woman.> “Please come help us! The big, mean Horde has goblins! Oh, we can’t handle goblins! They pull our hair and make us cry!””
This is now the canon attitude of all night elves from now on, and the only way you can change it is by going back and changing the quest text. I’m not interested in any fanon stating otherwise.
