Not to be rude here. Are you lgbt? Cuz if you’re not. I really don’t think you can call it forced.
I haven’t heard a peep of complaints from lgbt players

Again, this all comes down to your perceptions on how you think the world should work. Try and unlearn your biases and assumptions, life will be better for it. I promise.
I’ve explained it twice now - because hetereosexual people are the majority. I tend to look at probability when I make assumptions. I make assumptions about other characters in game, several of which lead me to believe that the most likely thing is that they are not straight.
That’s rogue talk for “OMG WHAT DO I DO AHHHHHHHHHHHH” lol
Go read my last post on forced lgbt representation and you tell me.
You don’t get to decide who has a gay vibe or not. But then again… I’m talking to a brick wall. But then again you did just admit that it is a stereotype.
I’m assuming it goes into detail in the novel, and it makes sense in context - but out of context I think it’s out of left field. The same way any random relationship that is suddenly prevalent is out of left field.
Or you can just answer my question now. I’m not going digging in other topics
Do you assume everyone you talk to in America on the internet is white too? Asking for a friend
Again, why are you making assumptions? It just leads to stereotypes. I guess for me, your way of thinking is utterly alien to me. I just was never raised to assume things about people.
Well duh you said it yourself you’re assuming everyone is straight so when you end up wrong about a character it does come out of left field.
Meanwhile folks like me are just “I freaking KNEW IT”
No. Generally, I go off of other factors for appearance. Avatars, profile pictures, etc. If I’m asked to assume what they look like? I actually find I don’t really think of anything in particular. Just a murky, featureless individual until given other clues.
Yes. I am LGBT. What difference would it make if I wasn’t? Forced representation isn’t good representation. I would rather no representation than a forced on.
Then why is someone’s sexuality any different? You just said that if you don’t know you assume based off the majority but you obviously know it doesnt make sense for race… and it doesn’t make sense for sexuality either. So that’s contradictory…
I’m outta hearts, babydoll. So have some money instead.
Because in the context of an individual talking about a potential romantic partner, without any other context clues the assumption is that it’s of the opposite sex - easily proven wrong, but with nothing else to go by the most likely accurate assumption would be that it’s of the majority. Especially since there’s a strong lack of proper representation for LGBT individuals in mainstream media.
No, I said I assume based on the context. Given there’s nothing to go on with Shaw - I assume the likely answer follows the majority. When faced with other clues, like in the case of the pairing in vanilla, the elf in Wrath, and the elf and tauren in Cataclysm - my assumption is that they are in fact not straight. Because there are strong clues suggesting this.
It doesn’t matter to me in the slightest that Shaw and Flynn are gay. I just hope it’s well written. What I don’t like is lore being put in books.
Because given I don’t always know the nationality of someone, or where they live, I can’t make an assumption on what their likely race would be because I don’t know the majority of where they live.
Again - I go off of simple logic.
You’re avoiding my question;
Why are you assuming the sexual preference of anybody? The ‘why’ is the most important part of the question.
Exactly, this would simply get her out of his way, hinting his interested in someone else, male or female. The game does not specify… Then in the book you find out, simple as that. Just because a character’s sexuality isn’t specified before doesn’t have to mean straight by default.
As for Flynn… Firstly, this is personal interpretation but with Taelia I always saw their relationship more of a brother and sister… But even if there’s romantic nuances, bisexual people also exist, so there’s that. And it kind of fits Flynn’s persona to be honest.
There’s nothing off or forced in their romance in the books, but one thing I find bad is that the books almost feel like self contained universes with little to ‘leak’ into the actual game, even though is canon.
So because they lack representation, you just assume they don’t exist unless they blatantly announce their selves.
The same exact logic applies to someone’s sexuality… surely you can see this? So why not apply what you know now into unlearning your h*tero-normative assumptions? (forums won’t let me post the whole word for some odd reason)
