Massive stutters with DF client

Just an update with my object and asset pop-in -

I have rolled my graphics drivers back to a September build, tried 3 different Nvidia drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled WoW, tweaked all my graphics settings, reset all my UI and settings, removed all addons, uninstalled Curseforge, and anything else suggested here in all 600+ comments. My PC specs are better than the recommended specs for WoW. Nothing has fixed it or changed it - still get terrible object pop-in in a small radius, 25-40 yards around my character when I am flying around. Fps is great, no issues there.

Thankfully, I know I am not crazy, because there are still others in this thread lamenting this issue. I have no problems with any other games from MW2 to OW2 to FFXIV, it is only WoW.

Today is Sunday, so I am hoping on Monday we get some sort of new acknowledgement, update, or response from Blizzard. Just feeling a little abandoned right now. I have a guild that I love playing with, and I really want to be able to rejoin them soon - especially while I have a subscription fee running.

No, that’s the point. Figured you’d apply some of those intcelligence logic and reasoning skills.

2/3 of which are probably the same group of people posting on different alts.

Great argument without actually backing anything up, so touché. While these rage posts are kind of funny, they are way off topic.

Pretty much means roughly within the same margin of error due to room temperature. If one of the PCs got ~140 uncapped fps before, with X settings, it’s still getting ~140 uncapped fps after, with X settings.

Yeah, I’ve worked in the industry for quite a while now. We kind of become sympathetic to the daily nonsense every company has to put up with on forums and social media.

Creepy?

What does whinning and complaining achieve? I mean seriously, you guys are pouting and lashing out so hard, demands this, demands that, cry cry cry, who does that serve other than yourselves? Threats and manchild tantruming doesn’t accomplish anything except make you look like a fool (except to fellow echochamber manchildren maybe). Gaaah, I need to keep it civil and professional or I’ll get a forum silence lol…

Get a video clip of it if you can. You can hit Start+G and record a clip there. If you trim the length down, you can upload them to imgur.com want to say they have to be under 60sec long. There are other hosting sites though too. That way we can compare your footage to clips we dig up from before the prepatch, to watch for differences in the popins. And show your graphics settings in it if possible as well. Remember, they defaulted with the prepatch and they might not match what you had before.

Well, nevermind all that bickering crap above but Blizzard, here comes mongo I mean I’m keeping my sub on a little longer. Until phase 2 prepatch. Im sorry but if the asset pop in isn’t fixed by then? I see no reason to continue my sub. Will cancel if I have to experience dragonflight with everything from gnolls to gigantic dragons and to trees popping in out of nowhere and smacking me in the face everytime I’m even walking ffs. Not to mention flying dragons at 900% speed.

Who is “We”? Whom are you speaking for?

All you are doing is trolling people being as condescending as possible at this point. You wanna speak all high and mighty and yet seem to lack any self awareness at all. What a joke of a person…

So here’s a little bit of reference on a relatively weak machine that should be pretty heavily taxed by the game+recording:

  • i3 10100
  • 16GB DDR4 2666
  • WoW installed on a generic SATA3 SSD (read speeds capped in the <500MB/s range)
  • GTX 1650 with 517.48 drivers
  • Windows 11 2H22 fully up to date
  • HAGS off
  • WoW set to slider level 7 and playing at 1080p 100% resolution scaling. The only change is that I set spell density to most, instead of dynamic(I don’t use dynamic FPS), and I use CMAA2
  • Vsync enabled
  • DX12 API
  • RTSS update time is set to 0 to show every frame and is being ran alone, without afterburner(otherwise, it gets capped to like 100ms updates and it averages/rounds the graph. 1-3 frame spikes will appear as little pebbles)
  • Using RTSS to limit the frame rates in these tests

So with those weak specs and the system recording at the same time here’s some tests:

  • PTR capping to 90fps: https://imgur.com/a/N17xxRL
  • Live Area52 capping to 90fps: https://imgur.com/a/YFDT5nI
  • Live Area52 capping to 60fps: https://imgur.com/a/3tNfs4d
  • Task manager showing CPU and GPU(the gpu usage reading is incorrect because it’s reading from 3D instead of Graphics_1, but was at 40% usage): https://imgur.com/a/mmGTlfI

Almost all of the spiking is absent when I’m not recording and even while recording, it doesn’t hitch the camera to the point you feel it(<30ms hitch at most). Usually, at worst, there are only little bumps here and there if there are a ton of things to load at once(fps might drop to 57 from 60).

As for popins, I compared it to some other footage of mine, from this living room PC, and found them to be pretty much identical.

So yeah, this is a cheap little entry level 500USD PC that isn’t having any problems handling the game at all on slider 7 settings… So again, people need to keep posting DXDIAGs and logs. It seems that most of you still having problems are all sharing something in common with your setups. If you want to keep believing that this problem is on Blizzard’s end, then you’ll need to help them get to the bottom of the mystery, rather than being melodramatic and unhelpful. When they ask you to test the issue where they want you to disable all background programs and apps(which means non-windows defender antiviruses, firewalls, vpns, vmwares, etc), they mean it.

We’re happy for your particular system not experiencing any problems (though looking at those recordings, it looks horrible, though maybe its just the recording quality), we don’t need your advices on how to fix anything, as all of them proved to be nothing more than a placebo. We’d take an official blizzard response. What are you even doing here if you don’t have anything else to contribute and are not experiencing the problem, this topic doesn’t concerns you, your opinion is not needed nor respected here, maybe consider moving on, and not de-railing the topic about the problem people actually struggling with. You’re just trolling at this point.

It’s the compression quality and that it’s being recorded at 30fps. But again, I’ve done these tests of seven different systems now and all are producing the same results: No issues with stuttering. Oh and on a variety of AMD/Nvidia/Intel components.

Don’t forget that there’s nocebo as well, where you could be tricking yourself into thinking you’re having issues and that they are new. Due to currently actively looking for the issues, because you’ve heard other people claim them, you’re just now noticing them. It’s fully possible they were always there, but you weren’t actually looking for them, so you didn’t notice them. Oh and the Mandela Effect as well, where you’re falsly remembering how performance was before vs now.

You got one, they asked for reports and then shortly after that, a hotfix patch happened that changed the broken CVAR, fixing the problem that this thread started with.

Because I help analyze things like DXDIAG reports and walk people through troubleshooting steps if they are open to following them, as well as perform testing and analysis to try to uncover the root of the problem, which for the remaining people still in this thread, appears to be an IO issue possibly caused by security/privacy related softwares. The problem is that the people that use paranoia softwares don’t want to openly admit they are tinfoil hatters. I’ve seen issues like these plague people in many other games and in some of them, that could harvest the right information, you’d see they were running these kinds of things.

But anyways, I stick around to help troubleshoot, analyze, test and debunk. Maybe drop a line or two of under the breath trolling here and there.

I love the irony how you see zero merit in the post, and yet cannot stop yourself from posting. I am not sure if you need to be needed, or you are just constantly trying to get the last word.

Bit touched are we? Entertaining for the wrong reasons I guess. Go ahead get your last word in. We eagerly await your dry wit / under the breath trolling…

leave him be, the guy is obviously trying to deefnd blizzard as hard as he can thinkin’ that the band aid patch they did in a hurry fixed everyone’s problem, on my part imma just cancel my sub til this thing is playable and then afterwards buy DF as i was proved right to hold myself thnx to all the deceptions i’ve had since BFA.

One can only dream of a blue post today. Blizzard come and end this suffering.

Nah, if you had my job right now, you’d be pretty bored too. I love the new UE5, but omg does it take forever to import tons of 20 million poly source quality meshes, all the 8k textures to go along with them, wait for the shaders to compile, wait for it to make the mesh cards and wait for it to make the distance fields… It’s like watching paint dry before you can even start painting.

But I’m done arguing with you guys about it all, I know your type and you’ll just keep at it with the entitled manchild angst, keep making threats to cancel your sub, keep making demands and if I keep taking the bait, out of boredom, it will just keep clogging up the thread with inanity.

Again, Blizzard corrected the original problem centered around the CVAR. I’m sure they are aware of a small percentage of you guys that are still having issues, the best thing you can do is follow the directions and post whatever information they ask for, along with making sure to follow any troubleshooting they want you to test(and not skipping steps or leaving things out). That’s how they will get to the bottom of this:

I hope tomorrow they will fix this. It was completely fine a week ago and now I cannot even play the game. Every single action freezes my game. Pulling a boss? Freeze. Loading in? Freeze. Flying from 1 place to another like Oribos? Freeze. Inbetween all of this I keep stuttering. Everytime an asset pops in, be it a player, menu, bags, animation I freeze and stutter. I am paying for a game I cannot play. Great.

Edit: I am also experiencing a lot of problems with the battle.net and launching the game. When logging into battle.net client it sometimes just gets stuck. Launching the game and nothing happens but the game is in my task manager. Having to close battle.net multiple times for it to launch correctly. Pffff.

Here is my Dxdiag for the POP-IN issue! Thanks!

Hopefully we can get an acknowledgement or update soon. Been a few days since i haven’t been able to play.

Projecting much?

Has not happened once? WHAT? Might wanna work on those reading comprehension skills…

Its amusing, its like you cant help yourself…

Definitely won’t be buying DF or playing at all until this is 100% fixed. My sub is about to expire so I won’t be able to complain on the forums so I gotta get my fill while I can. How do they seem to ruin this game each and every time I let my guard down, and in new and unimaginable ways even with me going in having zero expectations? Amazing!

Good luck to everyone who has been bitten by this issue. I hope to see you all soon… well, most of you anyway.

I haven’t bought 60 days of game time or the new expansion yet because of this issue. There is no way I am playing the new expansion on launch day with so much stuttering. I was looking forward to returning to WoW after a 5+ month break, now I’m just sad :frowning:

Fingers crossed the performance issues will be fixed on or before the 15th because I would love to play the new race.

Had to cancel my sub :frowning: I will come back if they fix it, but I don’t think I will be able to play the new expansion with this many issues :frowning: , hopefully they can find a solution soon.

Need blue post on this issue. Loading times, pop-ins with stutters and worse performance than before prepatch in general still present.

Would be amazing buuuut, considering its been like what. 2 weeks now? I am doubtful it will be fixed before the 15th, and at this point im just kind of expecting I won’t be able to make my dragon without wanting to falcon punch my monitor, since I’ll be flying into trees poppin in right in front of me while morbing out at 600% dracthyr flying speed. Which is a shame because this would defeat the entire purpose of preordering so that I could get “early access” to dracthyr. Cause sure as hell not preordering for the other bonus item crap.

Not tryna be dramatic but, I just can’t justify giving blizzard any money whatsoever with asset pop in worse than star wars old republic.
