Completely different styles of game engines. MMOs are extra rough on the CPU compared to those kinds of games. In a game like CP2077, the engine already knows exactly what assets it needs and not much actually changes frame to frame in terms of random things needing to be loaded or checked. Those kinds of games also have the luxury of staggering and amortizing operations over multiple frames. In an MMO, like WoW, you can’t do that as easily because if a mage hits arcane explosion next to you, your client needs to display that now, not two seconds from now and the client can’t magically predict when it’s going to need the assets for it, so it has to blindly load stuff as they are needed(I’m sure there are some core things always loaded though for the player and some key zone related things). And it’s not just the effects, there are also the sounds, animations, projected decals, and so on. There is a lot more work that has to be done each frame and a lot more checks as well. I wouldn’t call those other games completely deterministic, but they are close to it in terms of load on the CPU.
Are you sure about that? Or maybe it always was but you didn’t notice it until you started looking for it due to seeing a big echo-chamber thread about it. The hard stuttering, when it was happening at the start of this thread, sure, you probably noticed that because everyone did. But I’d bet money you have always gotten an occasional stutter hitch here and there over the years and never even noticed it. Like after porting to Org and stepping out toward the AH on a busy evening.
It’s like when there’s a smudge on your windshield, that’s been there for months, that your eyes don’t notice until someone points it out to you. Now it’s all your eyes see for a while and it makes you stay on alert for other smudges. Oh wait, turns out there were a bunch more small ones that have been there for months as well…
Well I have been trying to see what is causing these issues with WoW. I was trying to determine of there is multithread support and is seems there is but limited to 4-6 cores.
I also was thinking Pagefile needed to be set up a bit, but the commit charge was hardly being spiked and I have the pagefile set to 32GB.
Was also thinking it is CPU bound at 1 point my #7 core was upto about 90% usage and some of the other cores where pretty high as well but about maybe 40-60%.
Now each time I seen a stutter i was checking the Latency and FPS which were fine. so I don’t think any of that is an issue.
I was still a little concerned about the 1 cores CPU Usage, here is the graph of it’s usage:
EDIT: It seems I am unable to embed an image or post a link to imageshack
I was also wondering which Logs in WoW would be some to check for issues. I seen a bunch listed and none seemed to have any thing that looked like it determined if I was having a CPU Bound issue or whatnot…
IF I find any other info out I’ll be sure to come back and post some more…
That 90% usage is probably the main thread and the others are for other tasks like sound and batching draw calls for the GPU (if you’re using DX11 or 12 and not DX11 legacy).
Depending on what version you upgraded from, if there were changes to the driver shader compilation code within the new drivers, then it will invalidate your old cached shaders since they aren’t compatible anymore. This means your PC has to build them again.
Pawg you went from straight denial, to “finding” the issue on one of your systems, back to straight denial again. You keep flip flopping. This unstable core of yours is quite interesting.
Now however you are reaching with conspiracy logic, saying “Are YoU sUre AbOut ThAt?” questioning what people all ready know.
Pawg we know you are mentally ill. The question is do you?
It may not be narcissism. It could be any number of things. But why put it on display here? In a tech forum?
Yeah, the system had an OS environment issue. When I rectify the issue, the problem goes away. If I don’t, then the problem is there. On that PC, it’s not a WoW issue, it’s a system issue and it even affects other games. It’s what you call a reproducible bug and is what devs actually look for in bug reports. In that specific case, it’s a Microsoft issue with security performance counters.
EDIT: Oh and there was the one bad driver that wasn’t keeping the clocks high and was doing the aggressive downclocking thing, but that was easily rectified as well and also affected pretty much every other game on that system.
Take a look in the mirror, this is like your 80th post to me saying the exact same stuff.
So you freely admit you have no reason to be here. So why not go away? For awhile at least. Because everybody here has tuned you out a long time ago. And yet you keep screaming to the void…
Anddddddddddddddd this is like your 160th. Hypocritical sir. Once again no self awareness. Practice what ya preach man. You cant say one thing then do another. It makes no sense. You make no sense.
Like I said your not helping anybody. You are just arguing. All the time, every single day. It IS crazy.
Not to you… And definitely not completely off topic where I’m directly saying creepy and insulting things to you. I’ve quoted/tagged you 29 times and most of those replies pertained to the game. Almost all of yours toward me have just been offtopic and insults basically.
I just can’t get over how rent free I live in your head. Super creepy and stalkerish, but I’m sorry, I already have a spouse and family. So please, just let me go. You can do it… I believe and have faith in you!
I am just countering you. I counter you b/c you are out of control here. You are absolutely crazy in this forum. Since blizz wont ban you, I counter you.
Look you can be neo, and Ill be Mr smith. You can be the hero. I know how much you like delusional fantasys so lets indulge.
You treat people like crap. You are condescending, rude, wrong most of the time, and you refuse to leave a thread that has nothing to do with you. If you would go away and never post in here again I would never ever deal with you.
But im here in this thread because this issue effects me. It has nothing to do with you. Maybe you are narcissistic. You insist on making everything about you.
Is that your family member that likes your post? I feel bad for that poor soul…
Just here on a daily check to see if Blizzard cares. Seems the Iron Dwarf is going hard at it, WoW’s engine is apparently like no other and the game have “always stuttered”. Interesting how other MMOs run better, but of course there’s gonna be a whole paragraph from him on how that’s not the case at all, and the rest of us just imagine those running better.
The ones that sees stuttering now, have had “smudge on their eyes or glasses” all this time, which got cleaned up with Df Pre-Patch, and said stuttering can be perceived.
Fascinating isn’t it? It’s one of those narcissistic traits called gaslighting. Don’t think there’s any need to go into details on that, it’s just clear this person have some traits from several different mental illnesses.
Huh… Guess everyone has just been gaslighting each other for multiple expansions now… Are we just going to ignore all these and write them off as fake news seeds planted years before the inception of 10.0?
But anyways, you two win and will be the first people that I’ve ever blocked on the forums. I’ve been playing WoW on and off since the original closed beta and have never blocked anyone on the forums. You’re obviously the type that’s just going to keep playing the insult and bait game and I’m too bull-headed to not bite, so I’ll do the mature thing and block you guys. Good luck!
All that is just redirecting / deflecting. It literally has NOTHING to do with this topic. Absolutely nothing.
Now you are quoting yourself. That is fairly egotistical / narcissistic. No need to repeat yourself pawg.
I am pretty sure that is a lie, but ill take it. You have mentioned time and time again how you have been “stalked” on the forums and in game. It is literally your reasoning for your forum alt / main. Remember telling that story? You didnt block your stalkers? Right pawg, right…You are such a liar lol.
Anyways we know what your weakness is now. Good luck being “mature”. You are my favorite forum crazy person. I will always have a special place in my heart for you.
New PC, but after the 10.0.5 update trying to do any content is been a lottery, since ms can go from 100 to 1000 instantly. At first, I was having only inside dungeons, now is everywhere. Tried to do the Siege few minutes ago and I had to simply stay nearby and watch other players clear the objectives.
Wait, what are you on about? Pawg(pog with a southern drawl) as in the milk caps that we played with and collected as kids in the 90s and walker as in the physical action of walking around the neighborhood to play the game with other friends. You know, the pre-pokemon game that everyone played back then?
Apparently, I didn’t get that zoomer memo. I actually just had to look it up and even still, it’s not some “adult movie fetish” thing. It’s just a more modern version of calling someone voluptuous. Still works for the name I suppose. If GMs don’t like it and find it actionable, I guess that means I get a free name change.
