Martin Fury is gone but Area Death lives!

In Early April of 2009, Blizzard accidentally gave a player the developer-only Martin Fury item, allowing them to instantly kill raid bosses; this incident was forever cemented into one of WoW’s most infamous stories ever.

On Thursday, July 16, 2026, combat logs revealed the GM-only Area Death (TEST) effect being used during a Mythic+ run; another developer-only ability appearing on live servers. The run was later invalidated across Warcraft Logs and Raider IO whilst Blizzard investigates.
