Were likely at least 20 years off of that and for the first few decades building on Mars will have bigger survival problems than hi speed internet.
Whoever (or whatever) gets there first, I donât think there will be free time. Will be a LOT of work, I mean, the pioneers. Maybe after some decades it would pay off and they got some spare time tho.
Martians may see a reason to invade if they play this game

Meh. Just get the sagebrush from Nv, Ca, and Az. It grows anywhere and blooms in all seasons and shake it about after landing, got a terraformed planet in a year with plenty of allergy filled oxygen.
Possibly if theyâve invented a new communication technology based on quantum physics concepts to allow instantaneous communication across any distance.
Maybe theyâll be up to Classic - Shadowlands by then. Wonder if theyâll leave the awful time-gating in or if it will be an improved version based on 9.2.
Just get a loan from the Wong family to speed up the process. That much money should help the idea.

Do you have any idea what the latency would be? It takes a radio wave (that is a form of light) anywhere from 5-20 minutes to reach earth depending on both of their perihelion and aphelion. Then on top of that, you need to wait for a reply signal.

I know youâre joking, but Iâm gonna take you serious because the answer is pretty interesting.
Electricity travels at the speed of light. That means data is also hard capped at that speed and therefore ping is going to be twice the distance from the server (you need a back and forth response).
Letâs assume (for fun) that the server is on earth and you are on mars. Since mars and earth both orbit the sun their distance relative to each other changes drastically. The distance from earth to mars changes from ~3 light minutes to ~22 light minutes. So the best ping you can experience is between ~360,000ms and ~2,640,000ms (have to multiply by 2 since it has to go to earth and back).
Fun fact. Light has this limitation on earth too. Light takes about 50 milliseconds to travel from the US to Europe so your minimum ping would be 100 milliseconds.
Iâm really hoping we discover some way in quantum physics to overcome this limitation so we can build an internet in the solar system, an intra-galactic internet, and an inter-galactic internet. It would kinda be a bummer if we never figure out how to bypass the limit of information not being able to travel faster than light.

You havenât been following the news, have you? Mars one was confirmed to be a scam. The future king of mars only has a single joke of a competitor in Jeff bezos. If thereâs a single shred of justice in the world, bezos will have been beggared by anti trust lawsuits long before his joke of a company manages to achieve orbit.

As a drop off point Mars is a good idea but to stay colonize it ,I would think hard on that. If we know,and we do ,the sun would fry us in no time there because the atmosphere is thinner there than earth.

Naysayers have been doubting glorious leader for years now, the especially dumb ones bankrupted themselves trying to short tesla. If he gets even remotely close to his claim of 2 million to GTO, you will suddenly have the ability to ship people to mars at 6 figure ticket prices.
Just look at how much money we blew on those dumb rovers, which were less effective than a 1st year geology student could have managed, for significantly less, had they been physically there. The money is there to make his dreams are a reality, and heâs making the technology. Unlike nasa, thereâs not some worthless congress critter demanding pork be added at the expense of the launch vehicle.

They should be safe as long as there is no oil on Mars.
Also mars has a dead core and no magnetosphere. Any atmosphere we build up would be stripped away quicker than we can build.
