I too wish we had a spammable lay on hands like the hybrids do.
Look at Rogue’s crimson vial.
They should bring our heal and lone wolf pet ability more in line with a Rogue’s crimson vial and feint.
MM main here, having to run BM (which I do enjoy almost as much as marks) for choreghast, not because BM is soooo much more fun and interesting, but because marks is so incredibly punishing in solo content.
As a dedicated altoholic, I can also confirm how much easier choreghast is on other classes. And not by a tiny margin, either.
My favorite part is when I get presented MELEE powers for my RANGED spec.
That’s some big-brain energy right there.
Its only punishing if you pull more than 3 mobs at a time. Elite type mobs. Actually, more than two at a time. I got to be careful, and wait for the proper set-up to take them down.
Np, if I can stand a 4 hour run, Twisting Corridors 6 hours… once was more than enough.
Wait…are you agreeing with him?
I was thinking about this (in terms of PvP, which to be fair, I’m casual in). I don’t really mind being a glass canon, as long as the lack of survivability is offset by damage output, broadly speaking. If it gets to a point where I have access to a heal button every minute, I’d prefer a damage mitigating aspect like we had in Iron Hawk.
Blizzard at this point should just delete hunter based on all the doom and gloom on this forums.
I’ll throw in and agree that the cooldown on aspect of the cheetah is toooooo long
The changes above wouldn’t change your glass cannon status. You’re not killing enough people in PvP to reduce the CD on exhilaration enough to effect you unless it’s in BGs, and in that case you want to be able to top yourself off more than once every 3 minutes.
Trap radius would be negligible with the number of movement cooldowns in the game, and freezing trap/pet changes wouldn’t affect PvP at all.
Cheetah cooldown would make a difference, but let’s be honest; hunters need something for PvP. Especially if we’re going to remain so easy to just straight up murder.
In my opinion MM Hunter always seemed to be the strongest in PvP when it was a mobile playstyle.
Allow Steady Shot to be Instant cast.
Allow Aimed Shot to be cast while moving. Increase Cast Time affected by Haste.
Introduce a PvP talent that changes Tar Trap into the old Caldrops from SV that applied a slow as well as damage to the target.
Allow Master’s Call and Roar of Sacrifice to have a Dire Beast effect with a temporary pet to appear to cast and then expire.
Hunters were the King of Kiting. They still have most of the tools just cut away the anchors and let them run.
Not to clog up this place with my posts, but anyway, I agree with all of your proposed changed, and while we’re at it… I’d also like a shorter Disengage CD.
Going bm is definitely a solution
Man, there are so many ways to help MM, and Hunters as a whole, but I doubt it will happen. TBH, I get it. Blizzard really needs to toe the line with us because a few minute changes can potentially make hunters absolute monsters in PvP. I don’t think we’re anywhere near that at the moment, though.
Blizzard reading this and laughing in Mage
What powers do you pick? I typically pick Aimed Shot 50% and Hunter’s Mark. Those are the main 2 I pick. Maybe tar trap radius and speed for some bosses or turtle not stopping attacking. I never have a problem. If a boss looks too hard I might pull a pet out. But for the most part, a double tap to any elite followed by a 3rd aimed shot usually does them in. Or I knock them back or binding shot them. I split multiples up with ice trap and learn which ones are linked.
I cannot ever hate an area that allows me to use every ability at my disposal. I think it actually makes it more fun. Heck, with the buff we got this week I am curious to see what I can do.
For marks in torgast you just get the tar trap powers and mist power that makes you untargetable, then you kite and kill… if you run those you almost don’t even need a pet.
and if youre venthyr just enjoy your buffed kill shot spam with the right anima powders. Nothing but kill shot swishes everywhere
Firstly, I clearly said in my post I play BM in Torghast. Secondly, the first line of your post implies that you understood my statement that Hunter powers are bad to mean that I personally was having trouble in Torghast. Thirdly, your “just fine” approach is entirely single-target even though BM is clearly better due to its ability to mow down multiple mobs at once, and your approach evidently (from your achievements) wasn’t good enough to facilitate you clearing Adamant Vaults. I know you’re trying to be helpful but your post doesn’t come across that way.
The fact is that Hunter powers are bad and the only reason this isn’t a severe problem is because we’re already a really good soloing class. You just described an approach that required kiting, single-target, and CC. Go look at what some other classes get. From memory:
- Shamans get one that gives them Bloodlust for 15 secs when they drop a totem (30 sec CD) including other powers that buff Bloodlust such as giving Ascendance during Bloodlust.
- Paladins get one that makes Hammer of Wrath get 3 charges, another one to buff its damage, and another making their judgement have a good chance to make Hammer of Wrath usable on any target for a few seconds.
- Warriors get one that let’s you basically one-shot anything with Condemn.
- Mages get one that let’s you blink almost infinitely and another that knocks everything up in the air.
- Shadow Priest get one that makes you able to use Mind Blast infinitely during PI and one that makes Mind Blast increase the damage of Devouring Plague each stack
The best Hunter one is the Pinion which makes Intimidation increase your damage and crit chance by 100% for a few seconds. Every other good power is basically a flat damage modifier. They’re enough to make us clear it and even strong powers from a DPS perspective, but they are mostly very bland and uninspired. The Hunter ones that do go beyond being damage modifiers are often just bad (lol Scare Beast on a Maw Rat to kill it after 3 sec). I didn’t see the Hunter ones as lacking until I saw what some other classes get and I played Torghast on my Shadow Priest. There are powers that are just so much more impactful and exciting than anything Hunters get.
