I’ve been able to avoid buying tokens this xpac entirely by taking advantage of concentration builds in professions on ONE character only, and doing world quests for gold (ONE character only). I’ve saved about 900,000g as well.
You also need to reduce expenses: I have a guild where I have a decent repair budget (also try to die less or jump off cliffs to avoid repair bills), transmog less, and use cheaper consumables.
My plan is to hit 1mill gold to get the chicken pet in BFA, and then when tokens are at their lowest in the end-xpac lull convert to Blizzard balance + save that for then Bruto comes back, if it comes back
