Making a melee spec bomb-oriented is really stupid

Blizz is leaning into bombs (and now molotov cocktails) even harder for survival in Midnight. Why would a melee spec be using bombs and molotov cocktails right where they’re standing? It’s incredibly stupid conceptually.

What the hell does a molotov cocktail have to do with a hunter, ranger, etc? Why would a HUNTER use bombs at ALL, even outside of melee? There would be no meat or trophy left to collect. If this makes sense for any melee at all it would probably be rogue not a hunter.

The rexxar fantasy is right there for them to lean into and is what people actually want. They could create an entire new class that uses bombs, gadgets, etc instead of shoehorning it in on hunters.

you don’t, you use it at your target

idk tons of things used that in warcraft 3. why wouldn’t a hunter/ranger use a tool at their disposal if needed?

The hunter class in wow is not a food and game hunter responsible for feeding themselves/others. what makes you think this?

Because it’s a fantasy world with more than just beasts to hunt. If you’re going after elementals you might want a bomb or two

Which is literally right in front of your face

What do you think the word “hunter” means? It very much is a large part of the theme, the entire order hall in legion centered around it.

Yes? You arent throwing it at your face though, you’re throwing it at the target. What’s your point?

Well, WoW’s definition (read: a blurb for the class" is

From an early age, the call of the wild draws some adventurers from the comfort of their homes into the unforgiving primal world outside. Those who endure become hunters. Masters of their environment, they are able to slip like ghosts through the trees and lay traps in the paths of their enemies.

and then you look at the spec itself, and you read this

An adaptive ranger who favors using explosives, animal venom, and coordinated attacks with their bonded beast.

So nothing I read says anything about being a primitive that refuses to use technology that also exclusively fits game beasts

Go try throwing a grenade at someone 2 feet away from you and see what happens

why are you trying to apply real world physics to a setting with magic? that seems nonsensical

go try and fight a dragon the size of a building with just a stick and see what happens

Try drinking copious amount of alcohol in order to purify your body and/or grant yourself resistance to physical damage? While it might help you believe those effects would follow, they almost certainly won’t.

Or per solely similar high-fantasy, try dropping an hammer made of constrained photons and god/karma/Force™-magic on an enemy 2 feet away from you with the explicit intention to have it explode and… see how that goes for you?

Sir, please step back 100ft from me so I can drop a Full Moon on you without harming myself

Actually I think Paladins flash banging everything and everyone around them with blinding light sounds funnier

what would u replace bombs with to make it more rexxar? throwing axe and summoning beasts and stampedes are all in packleader

I haven’t played survival in a long time so throwing bombs and all that I’m not very familiar with or good at.

However I would like it that survival would have a pet/s summoned to grab the crotch legs or arms of the enemy player, that forces them to trip and lay on the ground whilst I harpoon in and whack them with my two handed swords. Doing super saiyan damage.

I’d rather have something like this than throwing bombs.

You know how hunters in the bush hunts game, and they use dogs to pin down boars and they come in with their knife to finish the boar ? That would be awesome

Watching YouTube videos on SV bombing and coming in to just swing twice and jumping out again doesn’t look cool.

Imagine being able to wing clip several times in a row to have a chance to clip the enemy so bad that he/she actually becomes more vulnerable to be seriously injured by raptor strike crits?

It puts the hunter in a vulnerable position if facing a warrior during that time, however it’ll be rewarding if it gets pulled off successfully.

I just wish the SV would concentrate a lot more in dual wielding hack and slash. But then again, I guess that is only for Fury warriors to master

They have to add a tinker class so they can take all the bomb and fire away from hunter and give us a proper theme around poisons, traps etc. They removed Explosive Shot from MM because of ‘‘we feel that it’s healthier for the spec as a whole to distance itself from Explosive Shot and instead focus on the more fantasy-forward spells like Volley and Kill Shot’’ Hopefully the fantasy of Explosive Shots and bombs go to Tinker

the traps that have all been ± explosive/fire etc except for one ?

did you miss how they moved that theme back to sv? what does mm’s fantasy have to do with sv’s lol?

They need to move SV to some other class.
A hunter wouldnt use bombs lmao…a fisherman…sure…stuns the fish, they float to the top, you get a good haul…illegal as all hades, but works.

A bomb against hunted prey?
And they tell me an AR15 will blow all the usable meat all over the countryside lmao
Jesus blizzard…WHO comes up with this inane stuff? lol

I mean, Hunter is a pretty subjective word. You can hunt things for sport or hunt something to protect a town etc
