tho, it also doesnt really effect me, as of right now, i have no desire to play SL or DF. nor Wrath Classic… and my 6mo sub doesnt run out till september… so i guess my vote doesnt count, but if i were to play, yeah the gif sums it up nicely.
Was a failed experiement
I never liked Choreghast/Boreghast.
I also haven’t gone there in forever.
I crafted my 1 legendary and basically left it at that.
Have you tried a twisting corridor run?
If so, you really never had fun in it?
You didn’t get 11+ mirror images casting ebon bolts?
Blink every nine seconds?
Etc.
I would like them to keep iterating on torghast or at least scale it to keep it relevant. But i also think they should revisit visions, islands, and warfronts. With just a few small tweaks(obviously arguable what those would be between people) all of these pieces of content could be fun. Not something you want to run all of the time, but once in a while and that can be really healthy for a game
Something that you could do at your leisure that would unlock non-endgame related stuff could be cool. Those things remaining relevant may invite iteration that evolves them beyond the scope they were originally created for.
I’m okay with Torghast being irrelevant. I’ve seen enough of it.
I disagree that the experiment failed.
Most specs are fun to build into crazy powers.
Have you tried a Twisting Corridors?
Would you prefer doing the campaign on a 4th alt or level them via Torghast?
The failed part was leggo currency and timegating in 9.0
I want to like Torghast. I really do.
I wouldbt mind if it were a thing in Dragonflight, but I want it to be a revamped version that actually grants decent rewards instead of just Legendary essence. Even just new mog items would be good enough for me, so long as they arent all spiky shoulders or gray robes
They should just make it a transmog rewarding activity, you get to a certain floor and you are rewarded with a vault type screen that can have anything (even unobtainable old mogs if you get to a really high floor) 6 or so choices of different transmogs from green to purple
They should have made it relevant now. No reason it will carry over into the Dragon Isles
Torghast is leagues better than any other form of repetitive grind or daily.
I love doing Torghast to level alts or grind renown, and to farm Soul Cinders to unlock legendaries rather than queueing for the raid or dungeon from which it drops.
If I could do Torghast instead of World Quests for the Covenant Callings, I certainly would. It boggles my mind that anyone would prefer World Quests over Torghast.
Basically any excuse I can use to make Torghast meaningful, I hop down there. The only issue is I can’t always do that.
Definitely would like to see Torghast 2.0: Dragonflight Edition, with some gold, rep, crafting, and world quest / honor gear level rewards.
Not alone, I enjoy running Torghast regularly still for fun, and did when it was ‘required’ as well made no difference to me.
And preface this with it not a FFXIV post I swear, haven’t played it in years but did dabble. However one of the things I extremely enjoyed in that was Palace of the dead (POTD), which was an infinitely repeatedly randomized dungeon bit with random power ups you can get, can use for leveling classes, etc…
So when Shadowlands was announced I was very excited that Torghast was like that but for WoW, and while not up to par in comparison for me, it is still very enjoyable, and I would love to see it updated and remain as an optional evergreen feature, if for nothing but to do for fun, and possibly able to use it for leveling alts.
And that aside, for always fun ability combos mentioned, I’ve always been partial to the Enh Shaman combo of these two:
Deathseer’s Whip — Dropping a totem grants your party 15.0 seconds of Bloodlust/Heroism. This can only occur once every 30 seconds.
Furious Spirits — While under the effects of Bloodlust/Heroism, also gain Ascendance.
For anyone that may not play a shaman and know Ascendance, it’s normally the top tier 3min cooldown button that does (for Enhance):
While in the form of an Air Ascendant, auto-attacks and Stormstrike become Wind attacks, bypassing armor, and having a 30 yard range.
Throw in Elemental Core - Each Stormbringer buff you consume increases the damage of Stormstrike by 3%. After generating 20 stacks, the cooldown of Stormstrike is reduced by 50%.
And for the entire bloodlust cooldown, or for 15 seconds every 30 seconds with the above, become a hasted air elemental with an armor bypassing 30 yard range super-short cooldown machine gun of burning things down.
I wish for a more random, less expansion themed Torghast-like experience that we could use as an alternative to dungeon spamming for leveling all the way 1-80 or whatever the next cap becomes, something that is built with the future in mind, and not with such a tight thematic that it is basically doomed to be left behind from the moment of its conception.
I honestly find the torghast experience fun in moderation on my demo, UH and shaman. They definetly need to work more on the powers that some other specs/classes got though (bm/mm hunter had me bored to tears for example). The other problem was “forcing” us to do it twice a week for such a long time, that’s just not how you motivate people into an activity which you might wipe in and have to restart after committing quite a bit of time.
I love the first iteration of Torghast over what we have currently. If it wasn’t attached to legendaries, I think Torghast would have gone over a LOT better.
Also, I’ve said from the very beginning, that whoever developed the Anima Powers for our classes in Torghast, really, REALLY needs to build our classes from the ground up. They know what’s awesome, and what’s fun.
That said, if Torghast isn’t carried over in 10.0, then several Anima powers NEED to become baseline, even if they’re nuked a bit.
Monks:
- Tiger and Crane Figurines - using Roll to change stances is absolutely amazing. I don’t know why this wasn’t in the game before, but it needs to be baseline. Today.
- Technique of the Rushing Tiger - Tiger Palm with a 5ft dash AND a double hit. Amazing, and fun.
- Fatal Flying Guillotine - Death Touch hitting four targets is probably too OP, I just wanted to give props to the creator. I salute your Kung Fu Theater knowledge!
Paladins:
- Radiant Essence - Forbearance increasing your damage by 15% is simple, and epic. Blizzard needs to baseline this, immediately.
- Pendrake’s Visor - Word of Glory applying Blessing of Spellwarding every 45 seconds may be seen as too OP, but damn I love the theme of it. I really miss Paladin buffs, and the creators made THE best one for Torghast.
Priests: all of them. Every Priest Anima power that doesn’t involve mawrats needs to be added into their kits for 10.0, no joke. Reflective Shield, Inversion Prism, Volatile Phantasm, every single one.
Being able to level through a torghast like experience with updated maps and abilities would be absolutely prime.
Honestly, Blizzard could make an entire rogue-like game based around torghast and it would be fire. It just needs some love.
I mean, if you enjoy it then it’s right there!! By saying ‘make it relevant’ you’re basically asking others to do it.
Make it a gearing system.
Lemme keep my mirror images casting greater pyro and dragon’s breath for 10.0 pretty please?
I said the same thing in another thread but i think that Torghast should have its own row in the weekly vault and the item level should scale up depending on how high you go.
How to make it relevant without making it so everybody has to do it:
-
more gold
A twisting corridor run takes about 1.5 hours. I think I make about 500 gold. This should be 1500 gold. -
you can level DF alts to max level in 10.0.5.
After 2 months or so of DF release, I can level alts from 60 to 70 in Torghast. It doesn’t need to be fast, just keep the daily that rewards a lot of xp. -
transmog
Make recolors available, of entire sets, not just shoulders.
Agree?
