Make subscription cheaper wow is overpriced

we are a food manufacturer so we were pretty much masked up before this anyway, shoot they even locked down the breakroom so you have to eat lunch and take your breaks in your car.

Thatā€™s a very good step to take, for sure.

Odd view to take, i.e. to claim you donā€™t care given your situation. You canā€™t change what others do, you can only change what you do. So if you want to worry about it, just go ahead. Me I will stay out of the tiny enclosed areas with poor ventilation.

Actually i think the OP has a valid point. If there are friends who otherwise WOULD sub at a lower price point, that lower price point can go a long way toward higher revenue streams.

This is a very apt metaphor. Also, please continue being safe. Iā€™m a family caregiver myself, and I do everything in my power to protect my parents. All it would take is one truly careless person to ruin everything. I want all of us to make it through this alive and well.

I donā€™t care that its ā€˜low riskā€™ in high ventelation areas. I donā€™t care that the odds are low. I do care about the virus, and any percentage chance to get it. I will avoid ā€˜but its just a low chanceā€™ situations.

You misunderstand. You attempt to devalue the risk of having maskless interaction, citing high ventilation, saying its fine, I say no, youā€™re wrong, Iā€™m not taking any risks.

Thanks, and likewise. We just do what we can to keep ourselves and those around us safe.

To be honest, I can see them raising the sub to 19.99 a month soon. Probably not this expansion though.

Their justification? New features.
And people will support it.

Itā€™s actually a bit over $16 a month in my state. Canā€™t even remember when it changed (MN)

Itā€™s been the same since 2004. Iā€™m happy they havenā€™t raised the price.

Youā€™re not getting free games with psn, you get access to 2 games with your subscription. When your sub is gone you no longer have access to those games. Theyā€™re not free.

good god manā€¦if $15 is too expensive maybe you need to put gaming aside till finances are better.
I dont WANT the game to be cheaper or free. we all know that is where games go to die.
If you dont like the game the remedy is easyā€¦go play ESO.
If anything the price should be HIGHER today just due to inflation lmaoā€¦not cheaper.

Then go play those and stop trying to ruin the one game I havent quit playing yet.

if they cant afford the price of a pizza for 30 days of unlimited gaming my guess is they need to prioritize there $$$ in the first place and shouldnt be wasting it on video game subscriptions .

I kinda agree with OPā€¦ Its kinda expensive compared to other subscription services. Besides, more subs means more money in the long runā€¦ If you have more subs at a lower price it balances out or can mean more money than a higher sub cost. Simple economicsā€¦

For example, I subbed to this OnlyFans page one timeā€¦ Was like $50 bucks a month!! Content was good but not $50 bucks a month good. This person could have prob actually made more money with a lower sub cost for simps like me loooolā€¦

Sub model is dying. It is hard to get new players when there is a pay wall to experience the content. You what 60 bucks upfront and then an additional 15 per month. thats like 360 bucks for the duration of an xpac. If you dont want to gear 6 alts raid tiers last way to long and after about 6 weeks of raiding a tier there isnā€™t much else to do except farm old content for vanity appearances.

I will probably do the standard play from launch until the guilds start imploding in the middle of first tier content, cancel for a year and a half and come back the last 2 months.

I just need to stop the urge to make a few million plat at the start of expansions and wait until the expansions go on sale for 40 bucks and play for the last 6 months

Im sorry but this isnt simple economics, lol.
Im a businessman. I can GIVE product away and if someone has no interest getting it for free isnt going to make them suddenly want it, lol.
You have X number of interested customers out there at any given time.
If this game was $50 a month, yeah, thats going to have an effect on whether even interested parties decide to sub up or not.
At $15ā€¦that isnt going to run people off. No one who is actually interested in the game, that is.

Secondly, your math is way off.
As i saidā€¦as a businessman one of my jobs is to understand the total possible number of potential customers I have. If I make too many, I eat the cost, so I have to be paying attention.
There are X number of people on this planet interested in playing this game.
If blizzard is charging too much, they lose a few.
If theyre charging too little, they lose income, but they ARENT going to draw in people who have little or no interest in the game magically.

So we have the concept of 'what the market will bear"
How much can I charge and draw in those interested players without scaring a huge number of them off with too high a price.
$15 a month is chikken feed in the grand scheme of hobby $$$.
People spend thousands on a rig to play the gameā€¦and you think theyre now screaming about $15 a month for unlimited play?
I doubt it.

Every so often someone who wants something for free makes a thread like this, lol.
If they cant afford $15 a month they need to reassess their financial situation before spending $$$ on video game subs.

dudeā€¦there are software packages out there that USED to be purchase ONLY that literally now offer sub packages, lol.
TONS of software that NEVER offered subscriptions before are subscription ONLY nowā€¦
Noā€¦the sub model is growing if anything, not dying.
Adobe and Microsoft products come immediately to mind.
I used to buy them outrightā€¦now I sub every month

In a similar vein, custom keyboards are a crazy money burnerā€¦ fun hobby since you get to sharpen soldering skills and build something thatā€™s functional and a great deal nicer than off the shelf options, but itā€™s not cheap lol.

Yes but reality is this is cheap entertainment, 50 whole pennies a day. People lose jobs, I am not being heartless here, but this happened before the pandemic too.

I found this series of videos a few weeks ago on youtube, they focus on what they call ā€œchoosy beggarsā€. Itā€™s a good laugh to watch a few, a homeless man for instance is given a sub from subway, asks if itā€™s vegan and when he finds out itā€™s not, he tosses it at the kind person who gave him a sandwich.

This feels like that. In 16 years, they have not raised our prices, the only real inflation has come from the expansion costs themselves, but really even those are on par with industry standards.

Probably because 15 was insane when the game launched. If it crept up to 15 now, itā€™d still be too high, and weā€™d have endless threads about how insane the pricing is in this game. But, because people are used to a 15 sub, then they donā€™t complain, even though subs for other services that are monthly, generally average out to be about 9(?) ish dollars (gaming or streaming, though there are so many free options).

Just because youā€™re used to the sub fee, doesnā€™t mean itā€™s good for you or good for the game.
