Make player taunts override pet taunts

that’s not really what i meant. leveling in WoD can be hard. I actually find BFA leveling hard for whatever reason. It can’t just be me that winds up being level 117 and feeling like a rag doll. I’m not talking about the content itself being hard, i mean the scaling.

I can relate to this. My warlock feels fine, i guess. The gameplay doesn’t excite me though.

I think it was always possible to play the game without being good at it. That’s not really the issue. I just think the game could be easy without pet classes having a taunt. lol.

Pretty much any char with benthics or whatever is going to be decent for farming. Just some are better at soloing group quests, and I think that’s what people get defensive about with respect to pets tanking.

The only reason I still play is to Solo group content on my Warlock and Hunter. I stopped caring about social gaming during TBC, as I had a massive raid burnout at that time. I know these days it’s probably better, but honestly I don’t want to let people hear my voice. Been raid kicked because of my voice in Wrath, was very annoyed.

I feel as if this problem could be solved by just asking the hunter/warlock/whatever in question to just put their companion on passive. And if they ask why, just explain it to them.

That honestly takes less effort then making this entire topic about just the vault bot essentially.

A better idea is for pet/demon taunts to be permanently disabled when in dungeons and raids.

I find this very hard to believe.

When there are only a handful of people doing Vaultbot and only one of them is a hunter/warlock with voidwalker, it isn’t a problem. When there hunters or warlocks with their voidwalkers on Vaultbot, it can a lot longer than the approximate 30s you suggest.

It’s frustrating. My suggestion isn’t going to hurt anyone.

Yeah, you’re not alone, for sure. That’s why I doubt this will ever change. I’m not big into raiding either, and it’s nice to have something you can do where you just zone out and do your own thing.

On the other hand, many times (rares on mechagon in particular) i’ve respecced to tank just to help with a rare, and then a pet class shows up and i’m pretty much useless. Not exactly a problem, but it feels strange.

I get ya, but at the same time the opposite happens to me all the time, I’m happily killing a World boss solo, get them below 50% then some Tank charges pulls aggro from my pet and the scaling goes up they die, and now I have a harder fight because they couldn’t handle it.

Honestly all the hunter’s threat should just go to the pet with certain types(tank hunter pets, voidwalker, felguard maybe). Problem solved. They don’t need a taunt. They don’t ever pull aggro from their tanking pets anyway. Idunno. It’s a really bad feature that only ever makes tanking more annoying than it should be for no good reason.

an elegant solution, i have to admit.

I would file that under complaints about scaling. lol.

Fairly sure a bunch of hunters/locks do it intentionally. That specific mob should just be immune to taunts or allowed it to be unlocked even if in combat.

You just got a noob or something i never even que with out turning taunt off but i wont turn it off for any none que activity’s no reason why you have to have aggro on a wq boss other than just pride /shrug

Warlocks pets have taunt also and they wear cloth. SPriest temp pet taunts, they wear cloth. No don’t remove pet taunt.

Well that’s just wrong on the don’t pull agro, if i forget to turn my taunt back on after a dungeon/lfr i know pretty fast since 3/4 mobs will ignore my pet and come after me

If you have taunt on autocast like you should, you’re not gonna pull aggro from them. If they altered the threat mechanic after removing taunt to maintain the balance, it would be the same as it is now. It’s just kinda clunky no? Having to turn autocast taunt on and off whether you’re solo or multiplayer?

Sure it does. It hurts hunters/locks, and makes their pets less effective. There is no reason this rare needs to be taunted at all. Why does it need to be tanked? Why do tanks need to taunt it any more than hunters/locks, who are they protecting it from? It does not cause any damage, can not be damaged-it only needs to be kited.

The simpler solution would be to make it immune to all taunts.

I can agree with this. Yes.

Another case I’ve seen in mechagon is the pet/minion getting knocked back eventually leashing pretty far, then taunting, and causing the rare to reset.

Pretty frustrating.

If you want your AI BFF to be as good as a player tank, learn to operate them correctly. Use and abuse your ctrl+3 function.

well there is, but it’s less likely to occur than some terribad huntard leaving growl on and causing a nuisance.

Knowing how to properly utilize your pet taunt in group play is part of being a good hunter. Removing situational abilities is the wrong direction for the game, mmkay?
