I don’t think this is a terribly good one, dood. The cost/benefit disparity is too strong. 5% bonuses are not worth a 16% chance of instant death. Now, a 50% boost might be…
Caster Trinket.
To Go Even Further Beyond
On Use:
Root yourself into the ground for 5 seconds. Your next harmful spell will be amplified by 50%. (45 Second CD)
When you equip this item, you no longer benefit from Heroism/Bloodlust.
It could be the funniest boss fight ever.

Do you remember the outrage over the Outlaw Rogue artifact ability? 5% of your life for every finisher performed. I thought it was cool and flavorful, but a lot of people didn’t like it. That said, I love stuff like this. Here are some other ideas:
-
Death’s bargain: Make a deal with Bwonsamdi. Empower your secondary stats for X seconds, but if you fail to deliver any souls to Bwonsamdi during that time, you die.
-
Elemental Focus: When activated, your magical spells from the same magic school give you a stacking buff empowering your secondary stats, but if you use a different magic school before the duration is over, your focus is shattered and you receive a stacking debuff for X duration.
-
Flanking Roguery: Take advantage of the enemy’s position and deal x% more damage as long as you’re attacking from the rear. However, if you attack from the front while this effect is active, then you get a debuff notifying you that everyone has noticed how poor your fighting skills are, and you become demoralized for a short period of time.
-
Jealous Demons: Your demon summon spells summon an extra demon for a short duration, but this requires such great concentration, that everytime you move, the chance that your demon’s binding will break increases. Demon’s whose binding breaks will either become hostile to the group or sit down and sulkingly refuse to participate whilst slinging insults towards the warlock.
I approve this whole thread!!!
I miss my outlaw rogue artifact ability. I ran with a great healer so the life reduction didn’t matter.
Yes I do, and I love abilities with a backlash since it adds more flavor to the usefulness of it! You got to be careful using some items because of this, and makes it a very skilled thing to use!
Thank you!!

Another effect…
Jani’s Blessing:
“When you loot trash, you have a 5% chance to get an ability to offer it to Jani, the loa is trash. Doing so will buff you for 1 hour, and make all trash looted during the time of having the buff to be worth 20x the amount it’s normally worth. You can not loot anything but trash with this buff.”
Chance on hit:
“When attacking an opponent with this trinket, you have a 15% chance of turning into a Saurid. You can not use any abilities when you are a Saurid, and take 50% more damage. Becoming a Saudid will allow you to steal an item from from the target, granting the trinket an on use ability.
Use:
“Jani, the loa of trash will grant you a move from the opponent in exchange for the item. (2 minute CD)”
“Fan the Flames”
While standing in a damaging ground effect, your offensive abilities deal 20% increased damage, in the type of ground effect you’re standing in.
Not going to lie, this is probably the most amazing one yet…!
Would make fire mages stand in fire for a little bit of extra damage and stuff, but could cause a massive backlash if done wrong
It came to my mind while I was standing in one of those haste-bubble effects from the Legion expansion. I forget which encounter specifically, but it was very exiting to be in there on the bleeding edge of speed and having to pick just the right moment to leap away.
Oh god… My poor priest
Collateral Damage:
Deals 2% of the target’s total health in fire damage. 200% of the damage dealt is then inflicted upon all party and raid members, split evenly.
You just gave me the idea for the perfect one…!
Times Change:
Chance on hit:
“Create a time bubble, either speeding up time, or slowing it down.
When in the blue bubble, time slows down making everything happen slower. (Dots ticking dmg, etc)Your abilities also suffer a slower coil down recovery.(CD on burst being very slow to come off of CD.
While in a red bubble, time will speed up, making everything happen faster. (Dots and stuff tick faster)Abilities also recover off of cooldown faster.
While in the white bubble, time is frozen, making everything currently on you frozen (dots are not ticking, but nothing is moving on the CD’s).You can not move while this is happening.”
Sacrificial Blood:
Drain nearby party or raid members HP by 1% each second for 10 seconds, increasing your damage by 1% per stack for 10 seconds after the drain.
Reflective Plating:
Equip: Absorbs one attack that would otherwise kill you. This damage is redirected at a random party member over 6 seconds.

Man, you guys are coming up with some creative stuff!!
No cooldown on that one. Meaning you’d never die during a fight, but would eventually kill everyone else.
Tears of the (opposite faction of your character)
Use 3 min cooldown
You drink a phial filled with the tears of your opposite faction and gain the righteous power of your faction. All damage is increased by 50% all healing by 50%, incoming damage is reduced by 50% for 15 seconds.
Once used the phial is empty, while you have an empty phial your faction is demoralized. All members of your faction in 40 yards have their damage reduced by 25%, healing reduced by 25%, and take 25% increased damage.
Tears to fill the phial have a .0000001% chance to drop from slain enemy player, with a .00000000000001% chance to Titan cry dropping 2.
Must have 100 tears to use.
Create Acme Parachute…
5 min cooldown, 10 sec cast
On Use:
You search thru your backpacks for any kind of cloth to create a parachute.
When activated there is a chance of proccing “Create anvil” This will create an anvil that will increase your vertical speed by 50%
Must be cast while falling
That should be a Vulpera racial.
Mark of Eternal Stench
You emit a seeping cloud of horrifying stench for 15 seconds with a radius of 12 meters increasing your haste and mastery by 300% for the duration. While allies stand within the cloud they /vomit repeatedly interrupting spellcasting.
