Maintenance extension reason?

Some fun was detected and they must remove it now!
When it gets close to lunch time on the west coast, the servers should be up by then.

This isn’t fixing things on the fly. There are engineering phases: feature proposal, 3 levels of design, coding, unit test, system test, UAT, and then deployment team prep. THERE SHOULD BE ZERO MYSTERIES AT THIS POINT.

You need a hug! I know you missed your playtime window but there is 6 other days in a week you can play big guy!.. you got this and your mommy loves you

I wonder how many people remember back in the day (Vanilla, BC), how long maintenance used to be, and how much better it has gotten over the years.

No one is white knighting. We just don’t care. Because it’s a game. And we signed an EULA that says they can extend maintenance for any reason.

You can ask all you want, they don’t have to answer. The world will not end if you can’t be in game today.

That’s how you sound.

I think you are a goof but your name made me think of Elton John and I am now jamming out so thanks for that.

lmao…yeah…THATS why blizzard did it

The only mystery is why we still play. :upside_down_face:

Never said it was the end of the world, or that they owed us anything more: I only implied that it’s pathetic.

Maint days were no play days. If the servers went live before dinner it was a gift.

They do have to answer, we are paying customers…

I mean, we literally have someone in here claiming it’s always extended every week and always bad. I somehow doubt they remember that.

Deployment is a multistep process that involves various build steps and scripts that need to be run to move resources from a development environment to a prod environment. Designing and executing a deployment pipeline is called DevOps.

This can take 5-10 minutes for a small .NET applicaiton (that I worked on) and so I can only imagine it being much longer and more complex for a behemoth like WoW. Worse, should something go wrong at any one step, it often means (but not always) going back to square 1.

So I don’t know their DevOps pipeline, but I’ve done my own enough to understand why Tuesdays are Tuesdays.
