Have you seen all of the bugs that exist?
Its always been an annoyance, like yea, of course I dont want to see a huge team working at like 3am, they are people too. But like, its a 24 hour game, im sure that there are people manning the battle stations at all times of day, you telling me that these hour long maintenance require everyone on deck and cant be run at 5 in the morning or something? I remember a long time ago when weekly maintenance would start at like 7am est. and be done by a reasonable time. Now they do an extended downtime and its the entire day.
Let’s see if they fixed the enchanting bug with vellums

health issues kept me housebound, and the game kept me sane.
i’d just chose an achievement, and chase after it.
(just took 12 months off while i relocated, so i’m a bit behind at the moment!)

Characters that don’t get logged in for awhile can have old achievement numbers, or even sometimes nonsensical ones (I have another allied race char that I leveled a little and haven’t touched since, that shows on forums as having 250 achievement points)
Maintenance is part of the service you pay for. There is also a new xpac releasing next week and since the game is broken I think at 10am you can make breakfast and wait.

The fact that you of all people are telling us that the only paying customers who have the right to discuss the broken state of the game are those who have lots of achievements means that you should not even be participating in the discussion, because you don’t, you freaking hypocrite.
And I feel fully empowered to tell you this as the inferior mortal you are because my achievements fall in the correct range.
It is a bad business decision to release untested or non-working products in every industry.
Players play videogames in many ways. Data available from FFXIV shows that many regular subscribers continue to play despite never reaching end game, while others not only leave and come back, but are not penalized for doing so.

I’d rather have an hour of maintenance every day until the 28th so they can just “flip a switch” when it’s expansion launch time than wait for a full day of maintenance on expansion launch day.
It’s an hour or so, do something else.
They scheduled maintenance for today. Therefore it’s scheduled.
Someone who’s been playing since 2006 would know things get rocky around expansion releases.
I just love how everyone love to think that if they have fixed all the issue on the beta or on the PTR and then every bug would magically be gone and not affect live servers when in reality whatever is fixed on the test servers will translate differently on a live environment and not a testing environment.
