If you only used remotely any brainpower you would understand how tech works especially today’s tech let alone running an MMO or patching a game. Things can and will go wrong.
Expansion content is included in the pre-patch, so the big maintenance for it is already complete by the time the expansion actually rolls around. For the past several expansions, it’s basically just been a flip of a switch to activate the new content when it goes live.
