Same issue, only with retail. Classic hardcore works.
Specifics, long log in, realm list shows empty, click into a realm with my mains and I see them all. However, They will not load and I get the character not found error.
well, there goes my time to get the pirate transmog for my mount.
Oh is that it the Pirates from Booty Bay are holding everyone hostage.
regular servers are also effected . all my characters don’t show up

Still cannot get into the game.
Classic shows all servers in the list all listed as incompatible.
WOTLK comes up on PVP server but won’t retrieve any characters, and won’t retrieve any other server list.
Live won’t log into the game server.
HOurs later and still no change for me at all.
Issues resolved.
