Mail Tank Class = Shaman. (duh!)

Why can’t Shamans have a tank spec? Is there any valid reason to prevent this from happening?

Bad option: Make Enhancement into a tank spec.
Good option: Make a 4th spec for Shaman & make it a tank spec.

Shamans are supposed to be the reflection of Paladins, anyway. Remember how originally only Horde could roll a Shaman?

I would take the bad option over our current situation of no tanking spec for a class that was clearly built for it.

BEST option: Make the Shaman 4th spec an easy tank with lots of spammable AOE threat-generation moves. Baby’s First Tank. This would do a lot to solve the tank scarcity problem.

I’m not joking, Warlocks SHOULD have a tank spec.

I would be down for that.

Voidheart. BECOME THE VOIDWALKER.

no please
look what happened to survival hunters
please don’t mess shaman up

Give hunters 4 specs, give them back OG survival.

No. You already have healer ranged dps and melee dps.

They need to make survival Hunter a tank spec. Heck it’s in the name.

I do prefer OG survival

Shaman don’t need a tank spec, either by adding a 4th spec (I still don’t think feral and guardian should have even been separated, but whatever), or by turning enhance into a tank spec (that would anger a whole other group of players - namely, those who like enhance as a dps spec.)

This. By this logic, all 3 rogue specs should be tanks. Just…no. And also, we have enough gish classes that can tank AND dps AND heal. We don’t need another.

I don’t agree with the idea of, “Any class that can’t do all three rolls are dead content,” but I do agree that if Blizzard wants to increase the number of tank and healer players out there, it’s more effective to create new specs on existing classes than to create a new class that needs new DPS and new tank / healing specs.

I think some of the easy choices include:

  • Rogue, Bruiser (Mobster-themed tank that uses dirty fighting to mitigate damage through poisons and debuffs.)
  • Shaman, Warden (Earth-themed tank that builds Earthen Armor stacks. They can use other abilities to consume stacks for benefits. Can DW or 2H.)
  • Hunter, Skirmisher (Replaces Survival as Hunter’s third DPS spec. Has a mechanic where they have up to three weapons equipped at a time; ranged/2H or ranged/DW. Disengage swaps the Skirmisher into a Ranged stance where their attacks are shots while Harpoon swaps the Skirmisher into a Melee stance where their attacks are strikes. Includes bombs and traps like live Survival.)
  • Hunter, Survival (Barbarian-themed tanking spec that uses animal companions, cunning traps, and rugged resolve to endure enemy attacks and dispatch foes. Think Predator from Alien vs. Predator. Can DW or 2H.)
  • Warlock, Soulthief (Warlock that specializes in leeching life from foes and demonic servants. They can summon tons of imps like a demonologist, but they basically toss their lives away as part of a Demonic Pact.)

I also think a tanking priest is a good idea, but I also think that keeping Mage as the one spec that doesn’t have a tank spec is a good idea.

Would love to see a Shaman tank 4th spec. Could be 2H or 1H/shield.
Earthquake as an AoE threat generator would be fun.
Super buffed Earth shield mechanic.
Ranged pull with Chain lightning.
Shaman already has a huge utility kit. Probably only need to create 5-10 abilities to flush out the tank kit and your golden.

Also creates an “earth” spec completing the 4 elements (Ele-fire, Enh-air, Resto-water)

So many options for interesting abilities with the Shaman theme.
