Mages spellstealing nether ward...? why?

Just went up against some rogue/mage in 2s. Decided to run Nether Ward to see if I could use it like an extra defensive against the combustion.

Lo and behold, apparently mages can kleptomania SPELL STEAL a nether ward, and I ended up reflecting my sacrolash’s strike slow back onto myself which guaranteed the loss.

So my question is… how do you cast a harmful spell, spellsteal, into an ability that reflects “all harmful spells cast on you”? It’s not like it’s divine shield man, it’s just 3 seconds of immunity to newly casted spells. I’m still taking damage, from melee, from existing dots, etc etc… Why does it need to be able to be stolen as well?

It’s pretty egregious. In addition to Spellsteal obviously being a harmful spell, there’s 0 reason we shouldn’t be able to protect Dark Soul for at least a few seconds.

It’s complete crap. Totally bad design and an unfair competitive advantage

Because mages are the best so they should beat warlock in every way. Dark soul is basically a cooldown for them. Triune gives them crazy magic damage reduction. Just be a mage.
